So you're saying that if someone runs the same play against my D five times in a row, there's nothing wrong with my cpu defenders reacting in the exact same way each time?

The point of this is to let cpu controlled defenders "learn" in the same way a human player does. How can that be anything other than a positive?

No offense, but this is utter nonsense. THe PS2 versions of Madden were even bigger cheesefests than the next-gen versions are.

Re: Keep adaptive AI out of On-line!

So the OP want User vs User games to be essentially 11 on 11 zombie football. "You there CB, yes I know the WR receiver you're covering has run an out pattern 8 times in a row, but no, you shouldn't exist an an independent 'thinking' entity on your own, you shall remain completely oblivious to anything that is going on in the game until I, the God Emperor, command you to jump that out route."

Ahh, I see,... No, just No.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

And how the hell do you supposed that Adaptive AI is going to stop a Madden 09 RC? IN Madden 09 you could be in the perfect spot and still get hit with the RC... they need to take the RC OUT! Adaptive AI is not going to help you there.

Isn't it though? Is it not my fault if I can't stop the same play over and over? I mean how stupid do I feel if someone beats me with the same play over and over and over and over... how is it NOT my fault if I can't stop the same play, provided that it is defendable. I'm nto talking about RCing, that's BS, that should be out of the game. I'm talking about Xs and Os, normal Xs and Os, that are 100% defendable yet I am incapable of adjusting for some reason or another. Its my job to defend the defendable. Anything that is undefendable should be out of the game.

Out routes are a great example. Don't give me Adaptive AI, give me DB SHADING!!!
I don't think it's going to affect online playing that much; it'll just soften the money plays that are almost impossible to defend. Toning down money plays is important.

Did it not occur to you that at least some of the indefensible plays in the game were a direct result of broken AI?

Re: Keep adaptive AI out of On-line!

Adaptive AI is realistic CapnKill. You want a realistic game online? Then you want Adaptive AI online.

If the Redskins play the Jets and Clinton Portis runs the ball inside every single first down. If you were the MLB and on this 12th first down and saw them give it to Clinton Portis, but it was really a PA, you would go ahead and jump the gun and tackle him. Thats all this is doing.

If Moss is beating a CB downfield in man coverage every play because he is faster, well he will still beat him with adaptive AI because he is faster. It doesn't give the CB the ability to suddenly be able to stop Moss on the streak.

Give me an example. I would certainly not continue to run the same defense 5 times in a row if it proves to be ineffective.

I feel as if it is my job to do the learning and then distribute that knowledge among my 10 CPU friends by playmakering them accordingly and moving them about the field pre-snap.

I've played the heck out of 05, 06, 07 and 08 on the PS2. I know pretty much everything there is to know about that game, and there was not one thing that was as bad as the 09 RC. The 04 Jetpack I hear was bad, but I never played 04. 05 had the juke glitch but that was a glitch, you just ban that in league games, 06 had hte high pass, which was a pain, but 07 and 08 did things very well. I'd that 07 and 08 PS2 had nothing that was unstoppable unless you resorted to glitches, and once again, I'm not talking about glitches.

I don't think Adaptive AI is going to help with RCs, or whatever glitches people find. The only way to combat glitchs and RCs is sto take them out of the game.
