Honestly, I don't see a problem here. The complaints that are made seem to only hold true in the fact that, yes, it does look a bit awkward on screen. Other than that, I find that this shotgun line up is more realistic than before.

If you notice in the real life pictures, the average distance between a QB and the HB in Shotgun is about the entire L or R Guard's body. The best example would be the Eagles shotgun pic from real life, and the Steelers' Madden 10 pic.

Of course, the Steelers' real life pic is definitely closer, that seems to be the issue to me; the lack of variety. Other than that, it's pretty much how it needs to be... That, and the fact that the HB is always behind the QB. As a base, it's fine, but there should be variety between Shotgun formations.

As for QB distance behind the Center, In the madden pics it's about 5 1/2 steps/yards back from the BALL. In the Real NFL pics, the average is about 4 yards behind the CENTER. So all in all it is about correct length in the end.

And as for the Linemen being too straight? that's complete BS, since this is the one thing that actually does vary and you can clearly see a distinct difference between the Center and the rest of the linemen. Also, I like that how in some plays the Tackles have both feet parallel to the line, while on others they have a foot back and are at a slanted angle.

But back to the backfield... It does look awkward, but with a closer look, it looks more realistic (atleast to me).

We're just not used to seeing a backfield view of NFL games, or shotgun. Especially not in madden.

To me, the problem is that there's no variety at all. Which I guess is understandable, given how much they've had to accomplish this year.

If this is the look EVERY team is going to have, it needs to be tweaked a little.

-Step the QB up at least a yard.
-Have the HB take about 1/2 a step in towards the QB.
