Not if the DE is coming at the OT. I can see the OT, pushing the DE to the ground or throwing him, but not pancake. That was one of the problems last year and in 08. DT's getting pancaked. I was like how is this happening when the Guards are stepping backwards and the momentum of the DT is going forward? Unless what you mean by pancake is something different than what I have in mind?

Maybe not "pancaking" per se, but you can't tell me OT never knock DEs to the ground while blocking. Maybe more along the lines of pushing them far from the play, blindsiding clowns etc. This video is obviously not a straight up pancake, but it shows what a beast of an OL should be looking to during the course of a play. You are correct though my use of the word pancake as not accurate

yeah that should be still in there. There was plenty of that happening before.

Uhhhh Edit. This is a run play. Secondly that Defender was blindsided. That is in the game. I don't have a problem with that. I thought you were talking about the way pancakes used to happen in this game where defenders are looking at the blocker and the blocker just lifts them off the ground, even on pass plays.

Yeah you are correct I used the term loosely. I simply meant that dominating OL should be playing dominant. Beasting weak DEs out of the play and knocking them backwards, blindsiding LB and DE etc. The pancaking stuff you are talking about is in fact overboard.

Smith pretty much manhandled the DE at the beginning of the play then nailed his a$$ on the return. In previous Maddens the OL just stood their like jacka$$e$ while the play ran around them.

In the CD build there was some good blindside blocking and it looked like the Smith block. You should also see a good OL, steer weak players and sometimes just drive weak players outta there.

The best block I saw on CD was a downfield block by Jared Gaither. I ran a toss sweep to the left. The TE blocked down on the DE and Gaither and Grubbs pulled. Gaither got to the second level and used his arms to push Bruschi to the turf. He didn't stop there though, he kept going up the field and the back side safety was flying over and Gaither caught him right under the chin and flatten him, very similar to the Smith block. Safety got up slow too. I replayed that one alot.

But then there were some hiccups too so there were some things that needed some tuning.

LOL Cool. If you got anymore deeper with your questions I was just about to say . "Ok man I"m sorry I used the wrong word. I just want to see a OT play good, I don't know about assignment etc I just don't want to keep getting sacked LOL"

Any word on when we can see a video like this with a team that uses a 3-4 for comparison? No better way to examine the 3-4 than by using the team that executes it the best- The Pittsburgh Steelers

Re: New pass rushing video (in practice mode)

Well looking at the video it really looks good.

The quarterback drop back looks great this year. Nice pause at the beginning and solid drop back speed after that. Looks like a real qb

The pass rush looked great in that video. You should only see around 3 to 5 seconds on passing plays for protection. Anything beyond that and you are one lucky SOB.

Very solid
