Can IGN be taken seriously when it comes to Madden?

I don't think IGN can be taken seriously for anything. Their review are so vague and doesn't match up with their overall score. Someone will tell you how this and that is great and don't bother to elaborate on it leaving people confused.

The answer is no. I thought gamespot gave an accurate review of Madden 10 and the EA guys had a big issue with it. Madden 10 is not a good game, it is a step in the right direction. Expectations for football have dropped so low that basic improvements (most of which were not even apparent) are enough to warrant praise. The problem with Madden is that EA made a complete disaster of the game since 2006 and they have not been able to fix it. The damage was too great. To me, I don't see how you can rate something super high when older games (2k5 and madden 2005) had more features, better presentation, better animations, and were just a much better representation of NFL games. I mean, kudos for adding somewhat decent sideline catches this year... Seriously?

The Madden team has a ton of work to do, and that's great that they are trying to tackle it. However, there is no way that Madden will have surpassed the older games this year or probably even next year. To me, that automatically can't give it anything more than a 6.

This isn't bashing, it's just being realistic. Sorry if I expect a lot from a 60 dollar game.

Right. Because OS never runs ads for sports games it criticizes.

I can guarantee you IGN's writers don't have the slightest idea, nor care, who is buying which of their banner ads that day.
