Can IGN be taken seriously when it comes to Madden?

I'm sure OS knows most of their traffic comes from Madden/NCAA ballers, so unless Madden is horrible, I wouldn't expect them to give them a low score.

Normally, within the first week or so of reading the comments of the newly released Madden...you'd think it was a near grand-slam. By week three of so...the roof has caved in.

To the defense of IGN they have different people review different games, it could be that one person really liked the The Show but didn't feel it was the best baseball game out there, the same with madden.

Or the reviewer doesn't understand the subtle concepts of the game that make it so great, for example NFL head coach 09 got a 7 while many people consider it one of the greatest football games on the market. The reviewer of the game obviously wasn't a fan of the little micromanagement stuff that others really enjoy, but its still a valid point and it does appeal to some people's opinions.

They have good articles from time to time. And the reviews are pretty informative just wish they would not score it.

IGN's scores are just not consistent at all but, I think that has to do with the fact that they review so many games and each gamer is different. I think they should have at least two reviews per game.

game reviewers are not journalists. Many of the "professional" reviews of Madden 10 were down right misleading. No different than movie critics.
