He's such a leader that they let him go to Japan in the offseason......and Lawton is faster, no question. The only thing I'd give Kapler over Lawton is his arm and the fact that he's got guns......

They didn't "let him go." They offered him a contract and he rejected because he wanted to play in Japan; He wanted to be a full-time player and he wanted to experience another culture.

Ok, you can call it whatever you want.......The bottom line is if he was such an integral part of the team and a clubhouse leader, they never would have let him leave or he wouldn't want to leave.

How do you not let someone leave? "NO GABE! YOU CAN'T GO ANYWHERE!" YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE!" It wasn't a personal matter.

Andy Pettite was a leader of the Yankees...So according to your theory because Pettite didn't say, he wasn't a leader or wasn't importent.

He was extremely important. The Yankees F'ed up by not making a stronger effort to keep him.

In Kapler's case, he was not nearly as important to the team as Pettitte was to the Yanks. But if as you state, he was such a clubhouse leader and so important to the team, they would have made a stronger effort to keep him. Don't turn this into more than it is.

He wasn't going to stay with them no matter what. He wanted to be a full-time player and wanted to experiece a new culture, like I already said.

Pettitte actually wasn't one of the Yankee leaders... he was a reserved type of guy much like Bernie.

Anyways... great comeback today... its good to see this team will fight to the last out no matter what the circumstances are.

Division lead down to 1.5
