Spent quite a bit of time with the spreadsheet and I really like where this is heading...

Since you run a lot of tests, I'm guessing you'll run a season / sim to make sure these edits sim out to realistic stats before release, correct?

Can't wait!

Thanks SOOOOO much, Scott and all the guys who's research / insight edits will be included in this roster...

I will be monitoring this thread for "drop" info...

Regards!
Definitely...Keep in mind, I'm using Mavs pitch updates and i'm not using the fielding updates, I just find those too high...I may edit Reaction/Arm Str/Arm Acc/Speed but I'm not like the fielding numbers.

Re: Full Ratings Printout from my Calculator

I have a "two cents" re: control ratings that I'd like to share:

I've looked through a variety of default / OSFM / OSFM w/ pitch edits / etc. rosters lately and something keeps sticking out to me...

In all of the above, I've yet to find many "A" control pitchers...even the elite guys top out at "B"...there's relatively few "C" control guys and the VAST majority are "D" or "F"...

The "bell curve" is off...

It's bottom heavy...

If the "average" (majority) rating is "below average" (D) then "below average" is actually"average"...

It's nit-picky, but since I use classic, the control ratings REALLY matter and I'm finding that with such poor control ratings across the board, it's been a challenge this year to find solid settings that compensate for (uniformly) low control...

I'm not sure if there's a way to bump everyone up a grade across the board (so "D" is the new "C"), but it would restore a balance...

Thanks for entertaining my current obsession...

Are you using the hitting numbers from the spreadsheet?

Speaking of Mavs spreadsheet with regard to my last post...

The "drop 10" off control seemed to get the sim numbers tight, but his control numbers being a bit higher than most really seem to jibe with my "bell curve" analogy...

Erring to the high side on control seems like a good thing this year, IMHO...

Thanks for all your hard work. I am not being critical of your rosters, but, the Control Ratings are completely absurd. My opinion is this: A 90+ Control Rating is for a Hall of Fame Pitcher; 80-89 is for a Very Good to Elite Pitcher; 70-79 is for an Above Average to Good MLB Pitcher; 60-69 is for an Average MLB Pitcher; and 59 and Below is for a Stinky Old Veteran or a young pitcher in the Minor Leagues. If you use this as a range, you will have great success and fun

Do you think the -10 is going to result in (once again) in the vast majority of the pitchers ending up with "D" (below average) control?

I'm pretty sure in the test I ran, the only way to get a guy to go up a letter grade was keeping that "10" in place...

But that borked the stats in your season sims, correct Scott?

Continued thanks!

As far as the FA pool goes:

I think ALL these sports titles have the FA's rated too high...if they weren't suspect or in decline they wouldn't be FA, IMHO...

If they're "too good" the CPU AI has a tendency to sign them when they prob shouldn't...

I have read that The Show seems to keep that to a minimum this year, better than most...

Lastly:

Are you putting Damon on the Indians?

Thanks for entertaining the "suggestions" AND your feedback!

Yes, Damon is already on the Indians...Some of the projections are a little high on the FAs, but i'm leaving it how they put them unless the player retired, then they have all 0's.

Re: Full Ratings Printout from my Calculator

Fixed Chris Young. My thought on Fielding is they are MLB players, so they are all excellent in fielding a ball. Notice the reaction ratings being alot lower which compensates (in my opinion). The Arm Strength, Accuracy, and speed are straight from Fangraphs ratings for those stats. I like my pitcher control (my opinion), because the K/9, BB/9 and ratings compensate for the most part. I like Jeezy's pitch ratings, also.
