Re: Full Ratings Printout from my Calculator

Is there a reason why the Cardinal's Pitcher's clutch ratings are so low?

Re: Full Ratings Printout from my Calculator

is there any other way to calculate the defense for these? perhaps bringing in range factor into the equation? having basically every player with a defense rating that high just doesnt seem like it would play out very well for those who don't simulate

You should just use the fan ratings from fangraphs. I have compiled a spreadsheet using 2010-11 data here. The ratings make a lot of sense, Francoeur has the strongest arm, Longoria has the best glove, Gardner is the fastest, etc. Use the maximums as 99's, divide everyone else's ratings into those. Use instincts for reaction and hands for fielding, the rest are self explanatory.

If you want to get creative, combine first step and speed to get a composite speed rating, and release and arm strength to get a composite arm strength rating (works great for catchers).

VERY impressive!

Thanks for sharing this!

Don't want to put you on the spot, Scott...

But do you have a ETA on the roster project you're working on?

I'm just wondering if I should go ahead and start a new franchise while waiting for an eventual release or continue to put it off for a few days or something, so I can use these...

Thanks for doing that, BTW...

Way cool, guys...

Thursday at the latest....I've already completed the AL West, NL West & AL Central...So I figure I can probably knock out the rest in 3-4 days.

WOW!

Then, I guess as tough as it's going to be...I will wait for your file...

Spent quite a bit of time with the spreadsheet and I really like where this is heading...

Since you run a lot of tests, I'm guessing you'll run a season / sim to make sure these edits sim out to realistic stats before release, correct?

Can't wait!

Thanks SOOOOO much, Scott and all the guys who's research / insight edits will be included in this roster...

I will be monitoring this thread for "drop" info...

Regards!
