Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Seattle Moves to 5-2 on the season.

After sweeping the series in Oakland, the Mariners faced the hardy Texas Rangers in Arlington. The opening match went the way of the home team, as the Mariners couldn't get the offense rolling for Kevin Millwood. Hisashi Iwakuma turned the tide of the series, and helped Seattle even the series. King Felix was a tad wild in his start, while Neftali Felix was spot on, and held Seattle to a run. With the Rangers up two games to one, Matt Garza took the hill verse Yu Darvish. Both were equally sensational, but Darvish got shaky in the seventh, allowing three runs to come across the plate. Garza went eight, allowing just one. Seattle ended up winning 5-2, splitting the series with their rivals.

The Mariners Lineup Looks Like This:

Ichiro
Chone Figgins
Corey Hart
Adam Lind
Jesus Montero
Justin Smoak
Dustin Ackley
Franklin Guterriez
Munenori Kawasaki

That trade sounds very Los Angeles like. Congrats on the win.

Bengerman's Phillies Franchise

So now that the rosters are out, I decided to go ahead and start my Phillies Franchise up. I typically run one Franchise with real rosters, and one Fantasy Draft Franchise (which I will do with another team). I play every 11th game, and a few in between, especially at the end. All in all, I expect to play about 25 games in the regular season.

Notes:
  • Starting the season without Ryan Howard, and Chase Utley. Utley is projected to be out for the first three weeks, and Howard is anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months.
  • I kept Orr, Nix, Wiggington, and Thome in the MLB.
  • Dominic Brown will start the season in AA.

Lineup (LHP):

SS: Jimmy Rollins
3B: Placido Polanco
CF: Shane Victorino
1B: Jim Thome
RF: Hunter Pence
LF: John Mayberry Jr.
C: Carlos Ruiz
2B: Ty Wigginton/Freddy Galvis
P: Roy Halladay

Lineup (RHP):

LF: Juan Pierre
3B: Placido Polanco
SS: Jimmy Rollins
1B: Jim Thome
RF: Hunter Pence
CF: Shane Victorino
C: Carlos Ruiz
2B: Freddy Galvis

Rotation:

1) Roy Halladay
2) Cliff Lee
3) Vance Worley
4) Cole Hamels
5) Joe Blanton

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

The Marlins had a bomb raid on opening night falling 12-1 to the defending champ Cardinals.

It had been almost 12 months since Josh Johnson pitched in a regular season game. Through 3 innings he was locked in a pitchers dual with Chris Carpenter. Well the wheels fell off in the 4th and 5th innings where the Cards unleashed on the Marlins for 8 hits and 6 runs. From there the beating rolled on as Carpenter mowed down 12 Marlins via "K" en route to a 8 inning victory. The Marlins only managed 7 hits and the lone run coming off Mike Stanton's bat as he went yard in the 8th inning off Carpenter launching a 2-1 fastball into deep left center field.

The Marlins now hit the road to face the Reds for a 3 game set.

Re: 2012 Franchise Progress Thread

Do you think if I traded the Regal Paul Konerko to a contender at the deadline I should get tons of prospects? He has already hit his 400th HR for me, and a chase for 500 would be pretty cool, so I don't love the idea of moving him.

Konerko is older, so you won't get a ton of studs, but the right team might throw some decent prospects your way.
