Re: ELLY DE LA CRUZ

Kid just got a supercharge in Diamond Dynasty (boost to 99 OVR for a few days), so it's fair to say SDS is well aware of what he's doing and he's most likely a lock for being on the roster update that comes out tomorrow.

Struck out 3 times today and his only hit didn't leave the infield. People need to slow down on this guy.

He’s a kid going against a future HOF, he’ll be just fine.

My point is we shouldn't be rating him so highly in the game like others have alluded to until he has proven himself over an extended period.

Re: ELLY DE LA CRUZ

Why all the starry eyes for this kid in particular?

I mean, it is certainly possible he is the real deal, but there have been a bunch of physically gifted guys that make a rookie splash as the next five-tool sure-thing hall of famer, only to fizzle out. Remember Domonic Brown or (on the pitching side) Matt Moore?

For that matter, people talked about JD Drew with a lot of hyperbole in his day. While we did not wash out and a career .873 OPS is above average, he never lived up to the rookie year hype, either.

I was at the game this past Tuesday here in Cincy watching them play my Dodgers and this guy is the real deal. I’m honored to say I saw him get his 1st big league hit.
