Edit: just looked at it...WOW! Can I suggest using draftees to fill out the FA pool? That gives the option on whether to use them or not without a lot of importing. I like to sign them to their teams right before the in-game draft. Again, WOW. Best I've seen yet. Also, do you mean refining faces as in you just want to touch them up or are they still the generated faces?
Reaction and running speed are both based on available stats/data. I'm being too lazy to open my Excel data, but if I remember, reaction is based on the rate of balls "out of zone" that players get to relative to one another at each position. I believe we went by fan scouting score on FanGraphs as the starting point for speed because we liked that there are usually dozens of ratings that are averaged into a single rating; we also liked it better than speed score, triples to doubles ratio, baserunning stats, or asking each player to run a 40 while we held a stopwatch.

Clutch is one of the only ratings that is not determined by a formula, however, we made it so it's pretty consistent meaning that no young prospects have high clutch ratings. We've also tinkered with 'clutch' to try to get better stats for batting average with RISP, which is still a bit low but much better than I've seen in any other roster.

Yes, we mean refining faces from the OSFM version. The faces on Milwaukee through Washington are as they were in the OSFM. Some teams naturally look better than others.

I don't think we have an interest in doing the 2015 draft picks, but I know they are out there in other rosters for people to import in if they want them.

No, sorry, I just remember people mentioning it earlier in the year. Digging through old threads might be the only way to find it.

Please don't clog up the thread with talk of an error you're getting. We never had one single freeze with this roster. Search the forum for your answer.

These look very good. Not worried about faces for remainder of the teams. I'm sure the original ones aren't all that bad. I'm going to find the spreadsheet for the original OSFM and edit incoming rookies on the game based on that spreadsheet. Finally ready to start my 30 team control. Thanks a bunch man!

Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 15 The Show

This roster looks great. I really think you did great work.

I have done an 8 year sim and would like to share what I have found.

It seems that the number of sub 3 era's has doubled. The number of post .300 hitters has halved. This happened for me right out of the box in 2015.

The numbers are based on the average of the last two years 2013-2014. So the 20 or so pitchers became 45 under 3.00 and we went from 20 .300 hitters to 7-10. Hit totals looked good with only 1-4 players hitting 200 but fails stable groupings of 175-195 hits. Strike outs remained stable and tracked with the real life stats. Home runs have dipped just a few but remained stable over the 8 years. 14 times over the 8 years some one hit more than 40 and only once did some one hit 50. The usual suspects plus a few draftees were the leaders with the occasional career year you see in any sim.

So, the numbers are entirely stable out through the eight years. There were minor fluctuations up or down about 5 players on the pitching side, and 1 or 2 on the hitting side, but otherwise the sims staid pretty even. No major jumps or falls, just the minor changes from year to year you would expect.

Mike Trout is by far the best player with 10% better stats than the next in line most years, though his performance did fluctuate nicely. It just shocked me to see his 50 home run triple crown is all. Of course it makes sense for him to be rated the best.

Mike minor was a beast in my sim. He quickly replaced Keyshawn and bumgarner with sub 2.00 era's 4 of the 8 years.

I am definitely going to use this roster and rate it! Looks and feels good, and stable.

A high quality stable pitcher's league roster.

Great work!

First of all, thanks for the detailed feedback and outside perspective. I can honestly say that the sim stats have been my number 1 focus on this project as a franchise player who wants his stats to mean something in context. Glad to hear that you will enjoy it. Also I like the fusion of Clayton Kershaw and Keyshawn Johnson.

The only thing that you saw that I haven't was the 45 pitchers with ERA's under 3.00. I simmed out 12 years and it was never over 35 pitchers with sub-3 ERA's. But that's a pretty minor point, since the team and league stats are on point, and of course will vary from sim to sim for each player. Who'd have thought we'd get a roster where it's possible to have team ERA's in the 4's in the year 2025? lol

Re: OS Realism Roster for MLB 15 The Show

Guys the roster looks amazing. As always teeds face updates and WTNY's ratings are above what other rosters can produce.

Just to be a pain in the you know what - well not really, but I have a handful of questions that may be community based- other stuff I will PM you that is personal

Which roster update base did you use?

Roughly do you know which players you had to replace from being removed from the game?

I know we had discussed it wasn't done as a whole originally but did you guys end up using SCEA update rookies etc so they carry over in next year's game - seeing that I am really contemplating not doing any roster builds in the future, I am curious so I can either move the update over from my roster or the updated roster if I decide to just carry on with my franchise into next years game.

Again this is a really nice looking roster
