It's just a bad design decision plain and simple. I really have a hard time accepting that they want to proceed with how things are..

If this was ea people would be ripping them a new one.

I participated heavily in the other thread about this that someone posted in here, so I'm not going to rehash old thoughts. They're sprinkled in here throughout by other guys.

Sadly for me, this has made me play on Meter pitching and Zone hitting. Why you ask? Simply put, I know those two will never be taken out. I'm not going to bother with any other method. Analog pitching and the old analog hitting were my favourite interfaces to play with by miles but I would sprinkle in some Pulse pitching here and there to try something new every now and again.

At this point, my confidence is shaken. Who's to say Analog pitching won't get taken out next year? Or Pulse? Baseball is by far my favourite sport and this series, along with NBA 2K, were the only ones I bought no questions asked every year. Analog hitting changed baseball games for me forever with its introduction way back in 11.

At this point, playing thousands and thousands of games since The Show 07, its becoming stale. I don't want to play baseball games like I did in 2005. Things have evolved in almost every sport series. I fell in love with the Skill Stick in NHL, the Shot Stick in NBA but I fell in love with Pure Analog the most. I can't imagine playing those other games without those additions and never thought I would have to in The Show.

Unfortunately, its no longer an automatic buy for me. I actually never thought I'd say that to be honest. This is the best Show in so many respects, presentation included. But hitting and pitching are 2/3's of this game on the field and it feels like I'm settling with those interfaces.

Re: Pure analog...

After thinking about this, probably a less invasive approach could have been to keep the mechanic functioning the same way but just eliminate the penalty for the stride portion. So the people who need the full stick motion for timing can still go through the motion and the people who struggled could just leave it preloaded to perform their swing. That way everything else as far as picking swing type, performing bunts etc would still be intact as before.

There was a Stride Difficulty slider that essentially did this. If you turned it all the way down, the penalty for mis-timing the stride was almost nonexistent. I usually left things at default HOF but on occasion in my RTTS would bump it up a notch or two and its a very functioning slider with a wide range of results going from needing no timing to it pretty much being impossible to get perfect timing at 10/10 on the slider.

I understand but people struggled with it still so in essence the slider was not effective which means the penalty needed to be eliminated totally.

Ahhh I see what you're saying. Yes, I agree. Should have just been a simple "Stride Timing - On/Off".

Re: Pure analog...

I haven't been keeping up with these forums too much until recently, so when I booted up the game last night and used pure analog, I thought it was a bug that I couldn't pre-load the power swing! Maybe they should at the very least just change the name from pure analog to just analog or something.

Re: Pure analog...

No idea what got into the devs, finally got the chance to try this and while my hitting is alright after few games they removed the fun from analog hitting..
