Re: Pulse vs analog vs meter vs classic?

Classic all day for me. Same thing with hitting and yep, I let the CPU auto field. I approach all my sports games that way really, same reason why I don't user catch in Madden. I like ratings to matter. If I field myself then I basically can make any fielder a gold glove.

Another reason I like classic pitching is the fact I don't like seeing unnecessary stuff on my screen either. Seeing meters and stuff turns me off. I try to have screen clean as possible, no meters, no pulses, no where the ball is going to land, none of that.

Re: Pulse vs analog vs meter vs classic?

I've been an analog guy since it came out but I do want to give pulse another try this year with the new pitching ball trail marker thing they put in this year. I felt like in the past, with the way the pitch marker was for breaking pitches it created to many variables because the little arrows weren't always the most accurate. However, with the new ball trail I can pinpoint the spot I WANT to hit, then it's just a matter of timing it right.

I've actually played like that from time to time. It seemed like it was working, but I could never tell if it was me being inaccurate or it didn't work.

But it sure did feel like if I hit the button after the pitcher would release the ball the ball was in the ground.

The only thing it didn't seem like you could do is throw a harder pitch. I would quickly double tap the button which would give me a normal strength pitch and just look for the release point to hit the button again.

I'm going to have to try again.

Edit: Now that I think about i should probably film myself or just check out some videos online and try to play something slow motion so I could see the pitch meter and the pitchers release point.

Or maybe I can try a custom cam and put the pitch meter right next to the pitchers release point to see.

And why haven't I tried all this in years past when I tried to make this work?

I just don't like when i use a good/great pitcher and he'll go 3-0 vs a batter that is a #8 in the lineup and i aimed nowhere near to where it went with classic

Re: Pulse vs analog vs meter vs classic?

Meter or Analog, when I'm playing seriously. I totally understand why people use classic and if I'm just playing without wanting to really concentrate on the game I'll use it sometimes. But I need to have some control over my success or failure to really enjoy the game, more than just deciding where I want the pitch to go and letting the ratings play it out. I have to execute well with the two metered options in addition to staying withing the pitcher's ratings or I will fail, simple as that.

Pulse is something of a middle ground between those two extremes, but as others have mentioned I find it difficult to use for long periods of time (in other words it hurts my eyes).

I am surprised how many people use classic. I thought no one used that any more lol. Also I am surprised how many people use meter has it may be the easiest one. I figured like 90% where either pulse or analog lol.

I played 2 games with pulse tonight with that new ball path marker and absolutely loved it. Actually ended up walking a realistic amount of hitters without getting crushed in the zone.
