And this doesn't necessarily seem like something that would need an entire cycle to add in. (I wouldn't know though since I only know very basic coding). But doing it as soon as they can will only benefit them since if not now, it's next year, or even if for whatever reason Ohtani somehow never plays in the MLB, you've got Brendan McKay coming up in a few years trying to do the same thing.

So to say they can't make anything before hand is pretty short sighted. You can totally put something in a game that will apply to a future player just for the sake of the game. It's not impossible.

Plus the Astros are planning on giving Anthony Gose a shot at being a lefty reliever and maybe a sixth outfielder/pinch runner.

Not the same editor we use to create players and definitely not a miracle either. I have carried him over the last three years or so and used it to import/export for Micah Owings, Jordan Schafer, and Anthony Gose to give them a secondary position of OF.

None of that is really the point though. The point is that you can't DH a pitcher. Something that Bumgarner did two years ago in a game, and what Ohtani will be doing consistently this year.
we are not talking about secondary position here, guys like prado and Zoberist have been coded in for this as well for years.

we are talking about changing the entire build of the game. the game is not built to read a position player as a pitcher. think player traits. and when you look at career stats a position players stats don't show pitcher stats. this changes the awards voting and all star voting algorithms. etc. and you are expecting them to have all this ready for a player that won't be in the game till the first roster update midday through April

You keep changing the reason why you think this can't be done.

The game isn't built to read a position player as a pitcher, but it is built to have a pitcher with hitting ratings and stats. Mainly because, well, they hit in the NL. Awards and all star voting algorithms. Really? Aside from the fact that they already have a Silver Slugger for pitchers, who cares?

But yes, I do expect them to have "all this ready". Whether it's Bumgarner and Ohtani at DH, Bethancourt at C, Schafer and Gose at OF, or McKay at 1B, the two way players are here. We should be able to use them accordingly, especially with the amount of attention Ohtani will be receiving this year.

They don’t have to change the entire build of the game. All they have to do is allow users and the CPU to DH pitchers. They already allow for us to pinch hit with them. All that needs to change is that we can see them on the menu before the haw starts.

Except if you do that you are required to put them on the mound. That is what they will have to remedy.

There is a work around for that in place already. As long as you go to the bullpen and hit "schedule to pitch" with another pitcher, then the guy you PH will not be required to go to the mound.

What about when you use a pitcher to pinch run? Same thing work?
