Re: MLB The Show 21 March to October Video

Couple first impressions:

The Depth Chart screen is intriguing....The ability to forecast your roster multiple years into the future is a pretty neat tool. I would assume this screen has to be added to Franchise as well.

At first glance I also noticed that the SP depth chart had 6 slots....which got my hopes up a bit about 4-6 man rotations...however the bottom slot on many of these positions appear to be the top prospects/minor leaguers at those positions, so I don't want to jump to any conclusions

"Massive improvements to player logic system" sounds very promising....however the "logic" they seemed to be promoting was a trade that I'm not sure is all that logical...but again I probably shouldn't jump to conclusions about where things stand in the postseason races and player development in that particular Sim.

Julio Rodriguez appears to have a face scan....I believe he was a CAP last year...that's pretty encouraging that they were able to get at least a few more face scans before Spring Training was shut down last year. I'm sure there will still be a lot missing both this year and next year, but maybe since "Full Minors" rosters were officially added last year they were able to get more minor leaguers to get scans last spring

Fingers crossed that Thursday we hear a bit about franchise!

5. In game, no, but you can simulate
6. No injuries, which is #2 pet peeve ;-)

I tried March to October last year but it did nothing for me. Endless simulated events just isn’t what I want from a sports videogame.

Doesn't look like there is a closer position. Shows rp but not cp on the roster management tab.

My guess is it just makes all roster related info accessible in one place. You can scroll years to see players that will be free agents, team salary, depth chart and positional rank. I'm wonder if it also extrapolates progression and regression.

yeah, I've given enough a go round myself to know I don't need M2O as long as franchise is a thing.
but do I feel it's a good gateway drug to franchise, more for those who see franchise as complex. a good introduction to be indoctrinated and become more familiar with franchise. kinda like how retro mode was to get newer blood introduced to baseball in general. one of the things that I disliked was when M2O forces you into a game locked as 1 particular player.

You really think MTO is there to introduce people to what franchise mode is? I look at is as somebody had an idea, “hey, let’s shorten the game and we’ll make these interesting scenarios”. Baseball has interesting scenarios all throughout a 9 inning game mixed in with blow outs, etc. Does MTO start you in the 6th inning down 10-1, or up 11-2? To me it’s just a waste of resources that could be spent on franchise mode.

They already have an introduction to the game called rookie mode and practice mode.

Re: MLB The Show 21 March to October Improvements in New Teaser Trailer

Potentially unpopular opinion incoming....

MtO is not a franchise mode. It's not a "potential franchise mode replacement". It's an abbreviated season mode.

Here's the thing; there is a TON of value in having that in the game. As a diehard franchise mode fan, I WANT this in the game. Why? Because it scratches a different itch for people unlike myself (and others in this forum).

This is the kind of mode I would have loved when I was 7 years old...play the game, no repercussions for "going for broke", and just make a bunch of unrealistic moves for the sake of having fun. There's nothing "sim" or "realistic" about how the season plays out in this mode...and that, again, is fine...it's about having fun.

I'd rather that SDS not try to make it more like franchise "lite". Let franchise be franchise, let MtO be that fun season mode that people can just cut loose with. I'd REALLY like to see SDS find that niche following for MtO and let franchise be for the more hardcore fans that want to play all 162 games without taking shortcuts.

But for the love of God, please divorce this from DD rewards. I want to earn my DD rewards by playing with my DD squad, not this...

After you complete one season in MTO, you have the option of continuing on with your team in traditional franchise mode, so yes I would say that in a way, MTO is an introduction into franchise mode. If gives you an idea of what happens over the course of a 162 season, while fast tracking you through.

For diehard franchise fans, its a "waste" of space, but for someone who feels at times overwhelmed by franchise, its an opportunity to get a taste while having your hand held the entire time.
