absolutely. if someone becomes interested in franchise after a season of M2O, I'd be the first to suggest starting over fresh with another franchise, in year one.

Somehow, every year, SDS makes an even more gorgeous UI.

To me it’s just a waste of resources that could be spent on franchise mode.

They already have an introduction to the game called rookie mode and practice mode.
Sure to many of the people on this forum (myself included) those moments are interesting as far as how they affect final statistics and decisions on bullpen management (both in the current game and moving forward), but I don't blame anyone who doesn't find that interesting. Having been in the dugout and on the field for many of those games it's not hard to see why one may find those situations unappealing or boring.

I think MTO is a great idea in theory. Playing 162 9-inning games is as true a "grind" as there is. Even among the many passionate Franchise fans on this forum there are only a few who make it all the way through a full season playing every pitch (and to be clear I am not one of them...yet ). So streamlining the process a bit to get players who may not want or be able to commit that kind of time involved in a season mode is a good idea. Now actually creating a mode where making it through a full season is more achievable as well as keeping the player connected to what is happening throughout the year is much harder.

I do think the goal of the mode was to be a bit of a "gateway into franchise" for some mostly online/DD players as well as a "gateway into DD" for the franchise/offline crowd. But like others have mentioned in the past, by trying to please both worlds it seems like they created a relatively bare bones experience that neither community really enjoys that much.
Spoiler

I think there is still some promise in the mode. A few more options would definitely help. Being able to set how many/what kinds of situations you want to play would go along way. An option to use custom rosters has been a popular ask, but maybe that disqualifies/nerfs any DD rewards (I don't think many would be all that upset about this as online players essentially use the base roster in DD all the time, and offline players who like the mode probably don't care as much about the rewards). The addition of more in-depth roster management is definitely a step in the right direction. Both the DD and Franchise crowds enjoy the teambuilding aspects of those modes so allowing for more control over your roster is definitely a positive for anyone playing the game. Maybe with the addition of different play styles they can please both crowds too so playing against the CPU doesn't feel "bland" to those used to online play?? That may be wishful thinking...as others have pointed to how Madden has not really implemented the different styles very well.
Spoiler

Anyways, I didn't intend to make a post this long about a mode that I haven't really played much of. I just think there is some potential with MTO that I would like to see untapped, and I think there is a way to make it more appealing to a lot of people in both the offline and online communities. Sure it won't be for everybody, but I think there is something here

EDIT: I took a long time to write this post and there have been like 4 other posts that made similar points while I was typing this, so this all might look a little repetitive

There is zero chance that depth chart screen with the years gets left out of franchise.

My guess is this is the same small "improvements" you get for Franchise mode too. Also looks more and more like they will eventually phase out Franchise and just have March to October, and you are stuck using their crappy rosters. Not impressed what so ever
Yeah that is a fear of mine as well... Then losing 30 team control as well.. (going along how EA killed madden) MLB 20 then would be my game to play for the next 10 years if this happens. thank god we can edit service time in that game. it can last that long lol

Simply put MTO never feels authentic. The End.

My guess is it just makes all roster related info accessible in one place. You can scroll years to see players that will be free agents, team salary, depth chart and positional rank. I'm wonder if it also extrapolates progression and regression.

This is something that needs to happen! the closer position I hate it because the CPU is obsessed with always using the closer in the 9th even if they are tanked. having everyone as a RP fixes this. and with teams using multiple closers this makes sense I hope that is in for franchise as well. it's a good move if this is the case I have wanted that for years.

M2O would be much more interesting to me if you could use custom rosters and I you could customize and edit players and rosters. *I can’t imagine they would replace franchise mode with this especially with rbi baseball out there. They even created that retro mode to compete with rbi baseball.
