Re: Monitor vs TV

I will make it at least the 3rd post in a row playing on an LG OLED. 55" CX for me. The picture is great and, more importantly, the input lag and refresh rate is just about as good as a monitor, so I'm not changing.

The main point is lag/refresh rate, playing on a monitor will be vastly better than a tv with a 30ms input lag and 60hz refresh rate. But if you have a TV that has solid specs for gaming like OLED does, then a TV is the way to go IMO.

My current CX is at 2656 hours currently, bought the same day The Last of Us 2 released 21 months ago. Still absolutely zero signs of burn in whatsoever and almost all of the games I play have static HUDs. I was worried about burn-in too at first, but as long as you dont just have the same news channel on 9 hours a day at full brightness, you'll be fine.

Re: Monitor vs TV

Do you all put your TV's on game mode? I've heard mixed reviews of doing that. I always have, but some say it makes everything washed out.

Game mode typically give you the least amount of input lag, but it also disables some post processing effects which could result in a worse looking image, that would be very tv specific though. Some tv's have a PC mode too which is another fine option to game on.

I can't really tell any difference between game mode and standard mode on my TV in regards to visual fidelity.

I use game mode on my LG C1 and the colors look amazing. Nothing is washed out.
