NBA 2K23 Impressions Thread (XBOX SERIES S/X & PS5)

I am really enjoying this game. Great job 2K. I haven't touched any of the online modes yet (typically find myself playing Rec or Play Now Online in past 2k versions). Now I've only played 3 Era games so far. One each Era with the Bucks. But it has been fun. Last time I played a lot against CPU was 2K11. I love the Era modes. As an older gamer this is right up my alley. I loved watching the 80s Bucks (though my memories start with 1984 Bucks after arrival of Terry Cummings but it is still fun). Each of the Era games was fun. It is almost like there is too much game for me to play! I still need to check out the online modes as well.

1983 game 1. Bucks win over Pacers. Bob Lanier and Marques Johnsons were just too much for Pacers. Clark Kellog played well for Pacers but just not enough to match Bucks.

1991 game 1. This Bucks lost heart breaker to Pistons. This Bucks team just isn't very good. 36 year old Moses Malone tried his best and had monster game but Mark Aguiar was too much and Isiah Thomas stepped up late to pull out the win over the Bucks

2002 game 1. The Bucks came out firing against the 76ers with Michael Redd and Ray Allen hitting from outside but the 2nd half saw the Bucks go cold and Allen Iverson went off for easy win over Bucks.

The best part about each of the above games is that it really felt different. 1983 was inside, mid range and pushing ball up the court. 1991 was more about defense and a balanced game. 2002 was a more modern feel with more 3 point shots.

Things may change the more I play but my early impressions are this is best basketball game ever and maybe best sports game ever.

Ya man. I hate to go there after less than 24 hours but so much would have to go south for me to not think this is in the argument for best sports game ever.

Good to have fast breaks back this year. Didn’t realize how much I missed them……those chase downs were so out of hand last year…

Yes, but it won’t happen often. If your an offline player, switching from shot timing to real player percentage should help. Theres also an option to adjust shot timing from very early to very late.

Can someone explain the leadership skills? Like what are they for? I have 111 skill points available. I have 7 of them allocated onto two different skills and I only chose those 2 because they are easy to achieve in game and give crazy stat boosts for shooting.......... like for example tier 4 of the general there is a skill called "not enough points" and it's 120 skill points. But the boosts from it are no better than boosts from a 10 point skill

I'd also like to understand the early or late option in the settings menu? Like I obviously feel like it's pretty self explanatory but what throws me off is why is there not a neutrall option. It's either early or late lol.

I dunno it's like 2k wants me to relearn how to shoot every year. Lol
