Limited 2k17 News: Concerned or Patient?

Other than boredom, I never understand the need for early information that OSers have. If 2k waits until September to release any info about the game, that wont affect whether you buy it or not. You will still have plenty of time to take in the info and decide whether you want to preorder it or not.

I think 2k knows that and realized there is no benefit in releasing info 2-3 mos early. Either its not enough info and people speculate (usually incorrectly) or its all the info and people are less excited at release. If its video, people are looking at vids of a incomplete game and nit picking it.

No obviously it doesn't matter when info is released as long as the final product is good. It just seems a bit odd and typically it's a decent signal for a lot of additions the earlier the info is released.

E.g., Mass Effect Andromeda. For so long we hear they weren't releasing much info to keep the game a mystery. That still may be partly true, but we also found out that part of the reason is because there was so much turnover during production of the game.

Patient. Like everyone else I'd love some info, but NBA2K delivers the goods every year without question. Plus, some of the twitter and Facebook marketers just come off as juvenile to me with their "hyping".

I'm not concerned at all. 2K16 was a triumph in sports gaming (in my humble opinion, even with its warts) and I don't expect 2K17 to be the leap that 2K16 was compared to 2K15 and 2K14. I feel like this release will be a more refined version of 2K16, with additionally features that people wanted last year (namely, being able to relocate and rebrand more than 3 teams on console versions of the game, being able to share uniform/arena designs, and being able to make multiple jerseys for your rebranded team as opposed to editing the home/away unis).

That in mind, I'm not surprised we haven't heard much and don't expect us to hear much till mid-August, a month out of release.

Yep probably reasonable to expect not as big of a leap this year but maybe more fine tuning on some gameplay things.

That's the thing. 2K is the standard with sports video games to me. They are ahead of everyone else on that front. It's why I'm not worried one iota about info.
