The locomotion guys added a feature this year in which you can "feather" RT to get into a forward run without sprinting. Then if you push RT all the way, you get turbo. The theory is that some controllers are not able to get past the threshold.

However, if you're seeing your stamina bar drain quickly and still not sprinting, it's something else.

Please let me know.

We're pretty certain it's the analog trigger threshold thing which we can actually address in an update (no patch needed.) So it would be fixed as soon as we can post the change.
Stamina doesn't drain at all for me on defense and off-ball on offense, i can only sprint when i got the ball.

R2 works fine for everything else.

Mine is working during the on-ball offense(the stamina bar drains normally), when I'm on off-ball offense or defense, I can't sprint at all no matter how hard I press the R2 trigger. And the stamina bar didn't drain at all.

BTW, my controller is a brand new one. I have no problem to sprint in other sports game, like 2K16, PES and FIFA

That functionality is the issue, Mike. Some PS4 controllers don't register sensitivity as well as others. I have tested this on different controllers as well as on the troublesome controller with the R1/R2 swapped.

The "good" controller worked fine
The troublesome controller works if you press the RT ALL THE WAY DOWN. Not 90%. Not 95%. You have to hit plastic on plastic.
The troublesome controller works fine when you reassign the buttons.
The STAMINA bar is only going down when I see visual confirmation of a sprint in all situations. It does not appear to be an interface issue, but an input issue specific to how the SPRINT is registered, as you mentioned.

The controller isn't broken, but this new mechanic doesn't work with the margin of functionality that the PS4 controllers can apparently have. I've never had this problem in any other game, but reports say that games with such sensitivity-based inputs have similar problems.

All told, I'd love to see this patched out and returned to 2k16 and leave the walk--trot mechanism on the left stick. This is particularly troublesome on D where you MUST sprint to get your player out of the very slow jog backwards animation. I think we should be able to get out of that animation into a normal trot with the left stick, as that is a walk animation, not a sprint. These casual walk animations look great, but they are still pretty hard to break and that's one of the many things hurting defensive movement options.

I don't even have a PS4, I'm on Xbox1, but still impressed and appreciative of Beluba's attention to the community.

Re: Reason For No Sprint with R2/RT

Can someone who's experiencing the issue please boot their game up, download/install the update and see if sprinting works now? We just deployed a potential fix. Thanks.
