The last thing i remember Mike Wang saying about the layup meter this year is that when you release the shot button/stick as the hand is about to release the ball you will receive a slight bump in % of it going in, BUT IF YOU DO NOT you can release it whenever you want with no reduction of the normal chance of it going in.

So is there a meter, sure. Does it penalize you for bad timing, according to Mike, no.

Which fortunately for me, I like that there is an incentive for skill. Unfortunately for me, it does not [i]require[i/] skill/timing.
