Yeah a big problem this year is that big men aren't that much slower than guards allowing full court press and easy on-ball steals from players with great ball handling because of glitchy steal animations.

Also it's very easy to swipe off-ball with no punishment and plenty of reward if you manage to guess the timing of a short pass.

Lob passes also serve no purpose other than to get snatched out of the air by a defender.

Basically the best kind of defence in this game is one where you don't actually don't stay with your man but just spam square.

On the flip side, I think oops are too difficult to stop/too easy to hit, as much as I love using them in pro-am.

I agree with you guys, the footplanting and responsiveness overall on defense need a lot of attention.

Whether it's all the sliding on defense or the ability to shoot off the dribble without having to even plant your feet first, it's one of those things people have been complaining about for years on here in this game.

I feel like on next gen 2k14 with the whole "Eco Motion" they were trying to address this issue and to a large extent it was much better initially. Unfortunetly over the years it has been largely forgotten about and neglected and we're back to where we were before with it.

Basic physics and footplanting in a basketball game of all things, should be one of the core things that is done right.

It's sad, but it looks like were gonna have to wait for a whole new console again for this to maybe get looked at and addressed again.

The defensive sliding obviously gets worse online. Most games I play online, I can't tell the difference between online and offline, unfortunately, 2k is not that type of game. Hopefully the servers improve

Exactly this.

And not to go off-topic into offense, but everybody having the ability to catch bad passes like Randy Moss and shoot/finish all in one motion without any foot planting is another physics issue. Its like they just caved in to people complaining about bad passes being turnovers.

No, they should be turnovers majority of the time like in previous editions.
Instead everybody catch and shoot/finish like Klay Thompson and Anthony Davis.

Re: Will NBA 2K20 fix defensive sliding?

The fact that they're now professing foot planting is in along with the emphasis on speed and first steps from the offensive player, I am cautiously optimistic about the ability to create space and take more pull up jumpers simply by forcing mismatches.

But this is highly dependent on the programming of the defender. If a defender is more planted, he will need to respect to possibility of a quicker player driving past him. As such, he should theoretically back up and allow the shot, hence pull up Js. Depending on the players of course....

But again, it is dependent on how the AI is programmed to react. I'd hate to see that defenders enter "sticky mode" to negate quickness.

.....cautiously optimistic.....

I'am excited about the improvements made to movements in general it's always been what's held the game back. But I think you shoudn't expect a revolution, more like small steps in the right direction.
