Kevin Huerter, Trae Young and Taurean Prince shouldn't ever be a part of a top defense in any world.
This topic isn't about the defense being overpowered or not. It is about defensive movement and sliding.

If defense feels overpowered you don't just make movement impossible, sadly that has been the 2k go to move.

You can be responsive and still allow the offensive player to win. If he is stronger allow his strength to take over. If he is faster, he should naturally go quicker, etc. Don't just make defensive movement harder.

I'll say it again. If you play Madden you go left you go left, you can quickly move right. In 2k you can't change directions quickly, and movement is horrendous on defense.

Just fix defensive movement and find new ways to bring better offense.

I get your point, but I like the feeling of momentum and inertia. I don't want the offensive or defensive player movement to be instant. I like a little weight shifting, delay or reaction time on both ends. Imo.

I hate this. It is a big reason why Paint defense is trash. Players still tethered to catching those passes. Hurts the game on both sides of the court. Please fix this.

Apparently it is still there for NBA 2K20. From what we've seen in a twitter gif made by Steve OS about ninja headbands. You may check his tweet to see if we're going to be playing NHL or NBA.

Of course momentum should be a thing, but that's not implemented in 2K either. It's not that the player's momentum stops them from changing directions quickly. Rather, it's more of a responsiveness issue coupled with a lack of proper transition animations. If you try to make a subtle move one way, then quickly back the other way, you would expect to just plant your foot and and be able to do that. In 2K, that footplanting animation isn't really there (or doesn't trigger properly), and you instead have to take 2-3 steps before sliding into another animation to move you the other way.

If they could actually have proper footplanting and physics/momentum for players, they could also eliminate the forced ankle breakers as well. An ankle breaker should never trigger from what the ball handler is doing; it should always be based on the input of the defender.

I get the idea behind why guy's view footplanting as important...and it is to an extent. In theory, it should create scenarios where the proper positioning would always win out...but to me, if every single toe taps on the court and momentum isn't respected...then it's not really that beneficial IMO, other than to look at. I've seen far too often great footplanting ultimately overruled by 'stick' animations when it's all said and done. In a perfect world it'd cover both these aspects...Again, 2K16 is the game I feel that balanced this best...I could literally use the defenders feet against them and make snap decisions-

Yep.Rather have sliding then no momentum. I have never been a fan of total control in player movement. Imo thats not how real life works.

I'm going to let you slide with the Pacers clip . You didn't have to do Hill and Ellis like that, lol.
