Also, my teammate AI seems to get destroyed by picks 95% of the time and I can't ever figure out when they're gonna switch when I get a pick set on me and when I need to manually switch to that defender to pick up the coverage because when I do that then the guy I was just controlling doesn't switch off and the opponent has an open man they pass to for an easy bucket.

It's maddening. I wish there was a way to play the game like I remember back on like NBA 2K19 where I never had this problem back when I was playing on Superstar and had to keep adjusting sliders so I'd stop blowing out opponents.

I have On Ball and Off Ball Pressure on moderate (exept for great shooters), Force Direction on auto or middle and Post on auto. The most important one is Stay Attached NO.

During the game goto Options.
Goto Controller Settings, turn Shot Meter, Flame, Sfx,... OFF.
Goto Settings, turn Shot Feedback OFF. I Left this ON in the beginning, your choice.

This resonates really well.

I've experienced the same exact issues and it seems to take a complicated set of workarounds, measures, and sliders to try to fix things on this front. Even from just reading this thread, I've seen recommendations of a specific slider set, more dramatic and specific adjustments within those slider sets, significant adjustments to defensive strategy screens, turning off various meters, and tutorials that teach ways to play defense that don't align at all with how one would defend these situations in real life (one tutorial said to just not react to dribble moves).

The optimist in me says that it's actually pretty cool that the game offers such customization in hopes gamers can find a play style that fits them specifically. The pessimist, however, wonders if it's even possible to tweak the last gen version enough to find something that matches the flow and output I'm looking for from an NBA game. NBA 2K20, for instance, had plenty of issues to write home about, but I could still come away feeling like I'd basically just played a game of basketball. 2K22 has mostly just been an exercise in frustration where I spend most of the game trying to figure out how to game the game (rather than, you know, focusing on doing basketball stuff).

The ice skate perimeter defenders, the mindless helpside, the pick-and-roll defense, the road block CPU D... it all adds up to a frustrating experience. I just want to play basketball.

Re: Nba 2k22 is way too hard .....ugh

Old school OS thread here, lol

Props for actually looking to get better instead of blaming the game. I respect it. Some good advice in here already.

Even as a long time 2K player, this year was an adjustment for me. Coming from a couple of years of essentially having press forward and turbo to get past my initial defender, I had to switch up my game a bit against the CPU.

The two biggest things for me was learning the new jumpshot mechanics. I would get open opportunitys and leave them on the floor. Every player had flick shot in 2K21 and it took me a while to get a feel for the longer press of this year's shooting on higher difficulties.

I also had to incorporate a lot more quick plays into my game. Scrimmage mode is a great, low pressure tool to use to find the ones that work for you. If your not a fan of plays, finding the right freelance can open up your game, I tend to lean on the motion heavy ones....by default, most teams rely on maximum floor spreading.

You can't abuse the PR on higher difficulty which I like but offense isn't fun
Unfortunately in my findings you most certainly can, see my example in my previous post, in which I killed the Pacers by running young off pnrs. This was on HOF.
