Yes, that is the way the guide explains it but is slightly different than how I do it now. The basic concept is to have each position's speed/quickness represented on the same scale so within each position there are differences but nothing too crazy as well has having some major differences between the fastest of wing players and the slowest of frontcourt players. Feel free to play around with it.

Which "four ratings" are you referring to above the Off Hand Dribbling section?

What stats are you using?

In 2011-12, the last time Rose played, he shot 31.2% form 3pt range. Using the scale that would place his rating around 69-71.

Slimm uses 3 yr averages for the most part, for Rose those % are ruffly 27%, 33%, 31% for an average of about 30% or a 68 rating.

It refers to the ratings listed above that paragraph. This is mix of slimm's old guide with some updates for 2k14.

Basically all the ratings above that (with the possible exception of layup) are subjective so it is up to you decide how to grade the players and scale those to get the experience you wish to have with your roster.

For players that have an explosive/quick first step I usually give them a higher 'quickness' rating than what their speed is.

For example, I if you gave Lebron 90 speed(just an example not a recommendation) I would suggest 99 quickness for him since he can basically blow by all but the very top tier defenders in the league.

Quickness is tricky as it effects other ratings and gameplay.

Generally here is how handle different player types.

Elite Offensive and Defensive Player - (think Lebron, Jordan) 99 quickness+High on ball D, they beat nearly everyone with a quick first step and defend multiple positions.

Elite Offensive Player/Weak Defender - (Monta Ellis) 95-99 quickness/lower on ball D

Weak Offense/Elite Defense - (Bruce Bowen types) low quickness/high on ball D

Average players fall somewhere in the middle. Bigs work the same way but the CAP is at 75 instead of 99.

So far I have edited some of the 76ers and for example Thaddeus young got a 80 speed and 85 quickness does that sound about right?

I'm not super familiar with how fast/quick Young is.

Do you view him more as a SF or 'small ball' PF.

If he will primarily be a 'small ball' PF I'd probably scale both of those back 5 points(75 speed, 80 quickness). That should make him able to beat most of the PF's in the league on the dribble, but make it a little harder for him against SF's who are good perimeter defenders.
