Re: Matt10's AA Sliders
COMMONWEALTH CUP GOES TO HOKIES
Cavaliers o-line struggle
Overland Park, KS (AP) --- Despite the stats being in my favor as Virginia, the Hokies took advantage of almost every opportunity they were given. My offensive line didn't hold any sort of composure and it resulted in 7 sacks - 3 of those to backup my 76 ovr center, Jack Shields. Using Jameel Sewell to start the game was a mistake as I have difficulty using a left handed QB - but it made sense considering the left side of the O-line is ovr 87 and 93. However, it didn't help when that 93 ovr, captain Branden Albert, was forced out of the first half with strained pectoral. I threw some really bad passes - there should have been more interceptions, but the CPU failed to capitalize on some possible interception catches. QB Scott Deke was the man for the second half and put up good numbers for me, I felt more comfortable with more of a pocket passer than Sewell's scrambling.
The Hokies looked really good on offense, QB Ike Whitaker, 92 ovr, was fairly accurate. A nice moment in the game occured when Whitaker saw a wide open WR Sam Clayton down the field - but his throw was too high and sailed past the receiver - it was refreshing even though it exposed my secondary's weakness. Running the ball was a struggle for them as I chose to blitz the majority of the time - who knows what the score would have been if I couldn't stop Kenny Lewis Jr.
A quick note about the rushing yards. I think this directly is a result of the minutes per quarter. The next game I will experiment with 9 minutes, the game above was played with 10 minutes - but seemed a bit long. For those of you that have the time to do so, I urge you to try as it will still be enjoyable.
Other than minutes per quarter, I do not believe any area of the sliders need to be addressed - this game was played the way it probably would have in real life. It was a shame that I made some really bad throws - I admit I'm a terrible QB, I don't go through progression well at all and it showed with Sewell.
One more note - MLB Clint Sintim (91 ovr) caught two interceptions, but his 66 yard return on the first one was called back due to pass interference on him - this was another nice touch as I hadn't seen this before in the game. His second interception was legit as Whitaker tried to sling a high ball into double coverage.
