so it's possible that the patch might have ruined the DB play on deep passes?

i don't think it's threshold related i just think the DB's are sub par this year in the way they are programmed to defend the deep ball.

I'm not sure what it is but when i watch CPU vs CPU games everything seems perfect...the DB's react to the ball in a realistic way

The minute i try to play the game myself they go brain dead and that dumb basket catch animation needs to be completely removed from the game this year.

Re: Pass Coverage Slider

Again, I am not having an issue with open deep balls all over the place, my issue is with difficulty passing at all.

So, from there.

I found that threshold at 50 and CPU pass coverage at zero, plus altering my play style to a hurry up offense and using audibles at the line created for some close and fun games using WF. However, I also found I was winning all those close games, and probably should not have been.

The problem wasn't with my passing, though I was able to get some respectable games with 60% passing. It was more overall the sense that with the speed threshold at 50, it creates much more balance between the good and bad teams, negating the advantage some of the better players would otherwise have, I think.

When I had the threshold lower at 30, the difference of better teams really beating me up was more pronounced.

My next step is to keep these same sliders and take Akron. At the end of the first dynasty season, I see they had about 170 points for and over 500 points against. If I am able to do anything at all with them, it should help expose which sliders I need to adjust.

Re: Pass Coverage Slider

I've also recently been experimenting with the pass coverage slider and have found some more potential problems. It does indeed seem that the pass coverage slider has no apparent effect unless you drop it below 15 or so.

However, I've also discovered that cornerback's ratings seem to be fairly non consequential, specifically man coverage.

In doing my tests, I put a corner with exceptional man coverage on one side of the field and then a back up corner with horrible man coverage on the other side. I would then give both receivers they had to cover the same routes. (multiple tests were done with different corner duos as well as on different pass coverage slider settings)

I came to find that there was no visible difference between a great man coverage corner and a horrible one. Both corners had the exact same reaction time on curls, in routes, slants, etc.

Has anyone else noticed this? If not you should test it yourself and see if you get the same results.

Re: Pass Coverage Slider

I'm definitely no expert but I have a theory that possibly the interception slider might be tied to defensive awareness or zone coverage. As an experiment, I raised the interception slider to 100 with pass coverage left at 50 and tried throwing deep balls. And most were covered pretty well. I'm also playing on slow speed so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Of course, if you have the interception slider at 100 that means there will probably be a ton of interceptions. This is just a theory and I'm going off of one short example.

Re: Pass Coverage Slider

My work schedule is too loaded to try this out, but I was wondering if fatigue could be an issue? Has anyone played games with fatigue turned off to see if it would impact the deep pass coverage? It just seems like everytime I have connected on a deep pass, it was several plays into a drive (i.e. the DBs could have been tired). If the coverage issue is eliminated by turning off fatigue, then maybe we can mitigate its effect by increasing the substitution rates for DBs.

I could be grasping at straws, but I hadn't seen anyone else mention this....

I have only noticed there is a problem with bump and run and the safety help. Once the WR gets by the bum and run animation is when its wide open...

So, I went in and edited and put 1 cornerback with 99 press coverage and the other with a 55. Then I changed both my safeties to have 95 awareness and 95 play recognition.

The results ended with the 99 press coverage stopping and staying with the WR 9/10 times after the press. I was using Oklahoma state and there top wr in the country against the Huskies. I was playing with 4 verts on offense and ONLY passing to the far wide outs and not using the slots whatsoever. Defensively I used tight coverage with just 1 safety over the top and the results were good in practice mode...

Now, the other corner with the 50 press coverage got beat 10/10 times after the bump and run with single coverage, but when I ran 2 man under with no bump and run and the safety help over the top was solid and the corner was stride for stride 10/10 times because there was no bump coverage. I noticed the Safety stayed more inside towards the slot receiver in this defense because therewas no need for help on the outside. I raised the CB to 75 in press coverage and still not much of a difference. The only time I noticed a difference is with the bump n run above 90!!! I think this would be a work a round until the patch hits.

Try it out and see what you see.

Safeties - Awareness - 95
Play Recognition - 95

Cornerbacks - Press Coverage - 99

Also, I play tested both on AA & Heisman with 50 threshold, CPU pass coverage at 85, & Interceptions on 50.

I was hoping some of you could test this to make sure my theory is correct.

Boost the pass coverage slider to 100 and tell me if see if it makes a difference... I think you will see it doesn't.
The mechanic is not working, no matter how you setup the PC. The slider is ok, the problem is that the mechanic is so flaw that nor slider can fix it.

The only way to fix this is to play with QB acc at 0 and leave PC at 0. or Leave it at 100 and you will see that PC slider is working.

IRL most incomplete passes are for overthrown passes, so it make realistic too.
