Fiddy's NCAA 14 Sliders

Fiddy,

Are you doing anything with in game adjustments? I know in some past years some sliders have had certain things set to conservative to improve gameplay.

As a followup to my great win over Ohio State I laid an absolute turd at home against Northwestern and lost 38-17. Ruddock was just terrible and his accuracy was awful. I still have HUM QB ACC at 5 but for some reason he will totally missing guys. He was 2-10 and I pulled him and my backup Sokal did much better, but it wasn't enough.

Crazy to actually see my QB start to miss guys by about 5 or 10 yards on once routine passing plays. As frustrating as it was, it felt good since I was worried I was going to roll through the season with a Iowa team that isn't supposed to be great.

6-2 now in my dynasty with these.

Herky, the only adjustments I'm using is whatever Yukon46 has set for all the coaches. He came up with his own defense aggression set up. Took what Oreaon had mentioned at the time. Not to be above 50. Then adjusted each team. Top 10 d teams were set to 50. The next 15 set to 45. Next group 40, them 35, 30, then lastly 25.

So wide range of different aggression depending on the teams.

He also has all teams run/pass ratio adjusted. Then adjusted again to his liking.

All teams set to conservative no huddle temp except 5 to 10 teams I do believe that are on aggressive.

All this other stuff IMO is just reaching now. Since the slideritus is running wild elsewhere here. I appreciate the effort going into it etc. But there comes a time where ya need to settle on a base and just play. Because NCAA 15 will be here and guys will still be tweaking 14. Ha.

play calling in general i mix it up pretty good. try and be as close to 50/50 run/pass as i can.

sometimes i ask the coach, if it gets repetitive i call my own plays after that for a while.

i use my own custom playbooks. i use ND, i used ND's playbook as a template and adjust it to my liking. i remove all HB Dives, 4 Verts, and a lot of read options (bc there is a ton).

i remove those bc they are overpowered plays and i dont want to be tempted to use them ever.

i also use Penn State in an OD, so i took their default playbook and did the same as i did to ND's. removed all those plays!

i also cut down the play book to around 100 plays, from the 370 etc.

this game was crazy. one in which, besides the box scores, i was dominating.

went into the half ahead 3-6. the first play from IA after the half i picked off, returned for about 10 yards. you could feel the momentum change, and in the crowd they went crazy. (there truly is no joke about hooking up a pair of good head phones to play this game.) anyhow, i got cocky and tried to only run the ball, on 4th and short from the .5 yard line, i'm denied the TD.

This is where momentum changed for IA. their running game was outstanding, the game became a hard nosed football battle.

As you can see i lost, got stuffed after my ill timed poor decision to go for it on 4th.

Anyhow, got me thinking. Just how momentum based is this game. Seemed before i took momentum early, both teams were playing relatively loose coverage, could run semi easy, then when i got momentum, it's like the sliders put on that edge.

The cpu has an advantage running the ball, and pass coverage, and once IA got that momentum, their RB started to shine, their coverage tightened up.

Just seemed like sliders came into play when the heat was on. like the players got their boost at the right time. Just another good one chalked up for me i guess.

yikes... a 2-3 USC comes into Notre Dame and stomps a mud hole!

the only change i made from 1st post was i bumped up the CPU Run Blocking from 50 to 75 to get CPU run game going. it worked! LOL.

USC was in control from start to finish. i had my moments, thought i was going to get back into it and staled. their run d was awesome, shut me down! when my run game gets shut down, i usually end up in trouble.

tough loss, but a fun loss..

Got to reevaluate my D sliders, your games are nice and offensive, albeit i like a good grinder.

bumping their run blocking to 75 turned the running backs into beasts. they started throwing haymakers as stiff arms, tough to bring down, etc.

im dominating Air Force right now, but its been a battle to bring down their running backs.

edit - what do you have your d sliders set to at the moment?
