In year 2020 still as the HC at South Florida. Won the National Championship just two seasons ago and turned down a few high profile positions to be loyal... Heading into the second last week of the season with a record of 7-3 tied with UCF in the conference. Facing of course......UCF for the "War on I-4." ...
I got just absolutely crushed by them. They stormed out to an early 14-0 lead on the back of their two tailbacks and I was trailing 20-7 at the half. That was the closest I got as the final was 37-15. Just could never get in a groove on offense and eventually pulled my starting QB in the 4th to put in a redshirt freshman (who may get the start next week). Also I just couldn't stop their ground attack. Giving up close to 300 yards.
So at the end of it all we (USF) will not win the AAC with a current record of 6-4 and have fallen out of the top 25 and will likely end up in a insignificant bowl game which is a let down given the recent success of being in the Orange Bowl last year (lost) and winning the NC the season before.
I restarted my dynasty and "play" in coach mode. I started as the OC at my alma mater, Southern Miss and have no intentions of leaving unless forced to leave. It's both fun and infuriating. I never realized how much my stick skills compensate for poor CPU play. Watching RBs run into the wrong hole or the QB hold onto the ball for way too long irks my nerves but the wins are far more gratifying.
Second season as Utah State's OC, we're sitting at 5-0 after narrow wins at Iowa and at home against BYU, as well as a 3 possession win over Air Force to kick off our conference schedule. Sitting at #5 in the top 25, so if we win out there's a shot at the national championship.
Year 2026 and my 8th year at Auburn. Heading into this season, we had won four consecutive BCS titles but a stunning 4OT 37-30 loss to unranked Clemson (88 overall) snapped the 64 game unbeaten streak and saw us tumble to #10 in the polls.
Just beat Georgia 34-27 in a game we had no business winning to move up to #8 after week 9.
Year 3 of NCAA sanctions (aka house rules in terms of recruiting) seem to be bringing a competitive balance back to the game. We are limited to recruiting only in Alabama, or our two pipeline states of Florida and Mississippi if we are the top ranked school.
Gone are the days of utter dominance - my Auburn dynasty is fun again!
Week 9: Bye Army landed 3 important commits during the bye week
Although the Black Knights were off this week preparing for road matchup with 1-7 rival Air Force, they did not rest on the recruiting trail. Four of their top targets announced their college decisions with 3 picking West Point. JUCO QB William Waters from Dadeville, AL chose Army over instate UAB. The 1 star QB brings a solid arm that should make the QB race more competitive next season. Army also landed verbals from 6'4" WR Jaylinn Sarria and Huntsville, TX OT Thomas Massey. Their top OLB target Robert Howard elected to sign with BYU. It was an uphill battle for the Black Knights as Howard is a 4th year legacy of BYU but still held out hopes the stud 3* backer would choose West Point.
One cinderalla story continues while another has ended. #9 Vanderbilt lost their 2nd straight game as they could not slow down Johnny Football and the #5 Aggies. That loss only drops the Commodores to #14 but that is 2 straight conference losses against quality opponents. Putting a major damper on one for college football's more entertaining stories of 2014. The glass slipper still fits the #6 Terrapins as they stunned #10 Clemson with a late FG to pull out the 20-17 victory. Maryland stays undefeated and jumps to #3 in the rankings, putting them right in the middle of the nation title race. #24 TCU knocked off #17 Texas in Austin as groans and rumbles continue to grow around the embattled Mack Brown. Ohio State and Kansas State stayed perfect and locked in at their #1 and #2 spots. Maryland jumped the SEC logjam to #3, Aggies jumped to #4 with the victory over former top ten Vandy dropping UGA to #5. Alabama is still in it sitting at #6.

Next Week: Air Force 1-7
Week 10: An Ugly Win is Still a Win Army leans heavily on running game to outlast rival Air Force 28-16
It was far from pretty but it was effective. Last week AJ Shurr looked like he was starting to understand the offense. Saturday he looked like it was day 1 of spring practice going a miserable 5/16 for 40 yds and a pick. He didn't complete his first pass until the 3rd quarter opening the game 0/9 with an INT. However, the ground game was there for the Black Knights as Maples rushed his way past the 1,000 yd mark thanks to 195 on the ground. Shurr added 87 on the ground and a TD despite being sacked 4 times.
The Falcons offense struggled just as much for most of the game. Some big plays in passing game kept Air Force in it but they were unable to find the endzone in the first half kicking 3 FGs. Late in the game they had a chance though. With under 2 minutes to go, the Falcon defense forced a turnover on downs from Army deep in Air Force territory. The Falcons put together 2 first down and looked to be marching down the field for the win when QB Kale Pearson made his one big mistake of the day. Looking to hit a quick out to his top WR Huntsman, stud sophomore corner Chris Carnegie jumped the route and took it to the house to secure the Black Knight victory. The loss dropped Air Force to 1-8 putting Calhoun squarely on the hot seat. Army improved to 5-3 and an impressive 5-0 record on the road.
The Black Knights secured another commit. 3 star WR George Callahan gave his pledge to play for the Black Knights. Callahan looks to be a future slot man at 5'10" 188 lbs out of Corona, CA. Army should be done at WR with Sarria and Callahan's pledges. Army's class now ranks #49 with 8 three stars, and 1 star. Army's next big recruiting weekend is in 2 weeks when Old Dominion visits Michie Stadium.
Quote:
"We just can't seem to find consistency in passing game. It wasn't all on AJ though, our OL has to protect better. They were getting pressure with just 3 men. That's unacceptable. Rushing wise we continue to be strong. I thought Raymond was terrific today. He busted some long runs and kept the chains moving. Thank goodness for that kid or we would be in some trouble"

#11 Vanderbilt lost their 3rd straight game (all in the SEC) to #19 Florida bringing their entertaining head coach James Franklin squarely back to earth. The Gators pounded Vandy 34-7 thanks to a strong day by QB Jeff Driskel. The #12 Cornhuskers knocked off #13 Michigan 38-17. The Wolverines day got worse when they found out starting tailback Fitzgerald Touissant is out for the season. #17 Virginia Tech knocked off #16 Miami in a close one in Blacksburg. The Hokies drove 85 yds to kick a game winning FG with 3 seconds remaining to secure the 24-23 victory. In the big SEC matchup of the day #6 Alabama made it 4 straight over #14 LSU outlasting the Bayou Bengals 35-28. UCF, Boston College, Ball State, and Louisville all moved into the top 25. Ball State is 9-1 with their only loss being to Army. #15 Auburn, #22 USC, #23 Arkansas, and #24 Arizona State all fell out of the top 25 after losses
Forgot to write everything down but instead of Old Dominion, played Western Kentucky after Air Force game. Was first big passing game I had of the season. AJ Shurr threw for over 200 yds and Patrick Laird had 100 yd rec game. Pulled it out 38-23 thanks to a huge 4th quarter where I scored 24 points. Kinda surprised have the winning streak I do but schedule really isn't that brutal. I am thinking changing up the sliders for 2015 season as I feel like run game is just too easy
Week 11: Black Knights Top Monarachs in OT Raymond Maples set Army's season rushing record on his way to a huge day that helped carry the Black Knights pass Old Dominion 28-21 in OT.
It was a slow start for the Black Knights, but when the time came both the offense and defense stepped up to make big plays. Old Dominion opened the game fast with a quick TD score on a 39 yd TD pass to Larry Pinkard. Army was unable to put up any points in the first half getting shutout 14-0. AJ Shurr struggled early in the game looking eratic with throws sailing over WR heads and only completing 2 of his first 14 passes. The Black Knights moved the ball well on the ground but drives kept stalling out just past the 50.
It was another story in the 2nd half. Raymond Maples found the endzone twice and AJ Shurr scrambled once for a TD. Maples passed Army's season rushing record of 1,339 yds set by Collin Mooney in 2008. Trailing 21-14 late in the game, the Black Knight defense forced one last important turnover to give the Army offense just under a minute to drive for the score. AJ picked apart the Monarch secondary with the crucial play coming on 3rd and 6, when AJ floated a perfect fade to WR Patrick Laird down the sideline who drug a foot and made the catch placing Army on the 1 yd line. A play later Maples powered his way in for the tying score.
In OT Army had the ball first. It only took 4 plays before Shurr hitt Maples on a flat route who then made 2 men miss and walked in for the score. Old Dominion could not respond as a 4th and 4 pass was knocked out of Pinkard's hands and Army celebrated their 4th straight win and their first 7 win season since 2010. They also landed 4 more commitments from the weekend bringing their class to #42 in the country with 13 commits. The Black Knights are off next week before facing their final 2 opponents: Hawaii and Navy
Quote:
"That was wild one for sure but I am proud of our guys battling back in 2nd half. AJ found his groove their late and lead his on a game winning drive. Those are the types of drives that build big time confidence. Also great to see Maples put his name in the record books. He does everything the right way and we wouldn't be where we are without that kid. Real proud of the season he has had."

It was a weekend of upsets as the #2, #3, #7, and #11 teams all lost. #2 Kansas State fell from the undefeateds as TCU shocked the Wildcats in Manhatten, KS. It took 2 OTs but a 1 yd Pachall pass to B. Carter settled the matter as KSU saw their title hopes go down in a 37-34 loss. #3 Maryland's magical ride came to an abrupt hault in Blacksburg, VA where the #13 Hokies buried the Terps 30-17 Hubert was solid as always rushing for 166 yds and a TD but it wasn't enough for Bill Snyder's club. #7 Oregon was also upset as the Utah Utes left Autzen stadium with a 26-21 win.The home blues continues in Austin where Mack Brown's team was shut out by Mike Gundy's men in a 26-0 loss. #11 Clemson lost and lost badly to Georgia Tech 41-19.

Here is how the conferece races are shaping up...
ACC
- #6 Maryland and #23 Boston College will face off for the Atlantic title this week, winner punches their ticket to the ACC championship game
- If #16 Miami wins out they will play for the ACC title. After that things get interesting as #22 Georgia Tech, #10 Virginia Tech, and Pittsburgh are all sitting at 4-2.
Prediction: Maryland vs Miami - Miami wins
American
- #20 UCF is in drivers seat at 5-0 in conference and already having beaten #25 Louisville and Cincy. They would have to lose 2 of their last 3 games to not win the title
Prediction: UCF
Big 12
- #9 Oklahoma is undefeated in conference at 7-0 but they face off against #8 Kansas State this week, winner of that game wins the title
Prediction: Oklahoma
Big 10
- #1 Ohio State has already wrapped up the Leaders division. How bad is this division? Illinois is 2nd sitting at 6-4 (3-3) and is only other team bowl eligible
- The Legends race is tight as everyone but Minnesota has mathematical chance, #14 Iowa, #15 Michigan State, and #17 Nebrasksa all are at 4-2 and Nebraska and Iowa faceoff in final week of season
Prediction: Ohio State vs Michigan State - Ohio State wins
C-USA
- FIU faces #1 FAU and #3 Marshall in final weeks of season, if they win both they win the division otherwise FAU looks to be the team that moves on
- Tulsa, Tulane, UTSA, and UTEP are all 4-2. UTSA is 2-1 against the other 3 opponents while Tulsa is 1-2, Tulane is 1-1, and UTEP is 1-1. No idea what happens here but Tulsa is 7-3 so give them the nod
Prediction: FAU vs Tulsa - Tulsa wins
MAC
- Buffalo is 9-1 (6-0) and with win this week will clinch the East title
- #24 Ball State's only loss came to Army back in September since then they have won 9 straight and are 10-1 (7-0) and West division champs
Prediction: Buffalo vs Ball State - Ball State wins
MWC
- #7 Boise State is in driver seat to win Mountain division but they must win their last 2 games including beating the #2 Mountain team New Mexico
- San Diego State is 8-2 (6-0) but have big challenge this week facing off against #7 Boise State. They have clinched the division already so win/lose chances are they face the Broncos again
Prediction: Boise State vs San Diego State - SDSU wins
PAC-12
- Despite being upset this week #13 Oregon is still lock to win North division. Win this week over Arizona and they clinch
- Arizona and Arizona State sit at top of South division each at 7-3 (5-2) and they play each other last game of week. However, Arizona must first face Oregon this week
Prediction: Oregon vs Arizona State - Oregon wins
SEC
- #2 Georgia clinched the East with a dominating victory over Auburn last week
- #4 Alabama clinched the West last week with 50-7 win over Miss State
Prediction: Georgia vs Alabama - Alabama wins
Sun Belt
- If Texas State wins out they take the Sun Belt in their first year. AFter them Arkansas State, UL Monroe, ULL, and Western Kentucky are all 3-2 with a chance
Prediction: Arkansas State
National Championship
- With nothing really in Ohio State's way they should cruise to title
- Winner of SEC game will most likely end up in the big game unless one stumbles along the way and then beats the other team in SEC title, that would open door for #4 Aggies
Prediction: Ohio State vs Alabama - Ohio State wins
I restarted my offline dynasty of almost 12 years and started a new one with updated rosters for 2014 season.
I started as the OC for Ohio and I am currently still with them. I gave myself a house rule of a minimum of 4 years at a school so that the guys I have recruited will either be seniors or Juniors by the end of my contract. I also have a few house rules as far as scheduling and recruiting go which has really helped me in this dynasty to keep it as real as I can.
Year 1 (2014) - 13-1 : Mac Champs, Big Daddy Bowl Winner
Year 2 (2015) - 12-2 : Moved to American Conference, American Champs, Sugar Bowl Winners over LSU
Year 3 (2016) - 10-4 : American Champs, Lost Sugar Bowl to LSU
Currently just started Year 4 with a win over #10 UNC. My offense is currently rated at 91 with a 94 rated running back, 89 rated Quarterback, and decent wide receivers and tight end.
As far as recruiting goes, I can only sign up to +4 of the amount of seniors that are leaving. So if 12 seniors are leaving, I can only sign up to 16 (given someone may leave early or transfer). I also have team star prestige based recruiting requirements but Ill save that for another post.
