Re: Ncaa 04 vs Ncaa 06

Was there auto generate Roster names In 04? Or a way to do it? Can’t find it.

- 55-man roster, 70 is better
- have to turn off passing icons in order to run with QB
- bare-bones dynasty mode
- forced to recruit a certain amount of players at each position, regardless of preferred offensive style
- no sub packages
- no custom playbooks
- no conference cross-divisional schedule rotation. This doesn't effect all teams, only conferences with 10+ teams or with a conference title game

I can live with most of these things. Both 04 and 06 are the only ones with that great pick-up-and-play feel.

I strongly believe that NCAA 07 should be in this conversation as THE best NCAA college football game. It built upon the greatness of 06 and add momentum, a much better set of playbooks, cleaned up visuals (uniforms) and to my knowledge took NOTHING out from 06.

I will agree that 06 probably played a little better "out of the box" but 07 with some tweaks can be equally amazing.

Now add that Madden 07 is also THE best Madden ever and the 07 combo is the best you can do in console/sim football.

I wish I could say the same about NCAA 07 but it has too many issues for me to consider it. The momentum meter is a big culprit for me as it can lead to too many big hits which can lead to drops and fumbles. Every game I played would end up with a a minimum of two turnovers a game because of the meter. I normally had games of six turnovers or more.

Jump the Snap is still a pain to work around and the kick camera is annoying. I love the updated playbooks and other small additions but the big issues I just mentioned keep me from playing it more. And trust me, I've tried a ton of slider tweaks and nothing really worked. I can get over JTS and the kick camera if I can somehow mitigate the momentum meter but I'm afraid it is what it is.

I've just recently started playing Madden 07 and I'm loving it so I'm looking forward to diving deep into it over time.

Glad you enjoyed it. But for me the momentum feature ruined the game. Still bitter 15 years later.....as otherwise I would have really enjoyed it. Actually, JTS sucked too (at least for me that just played single player offline).

My thoughts exactly as shown above.

Re: Ncaa 04 vs Ncaa 06

I do remember having a few great games on '07. If I am remembering correctly, one other feature that year was that FG's could be blocked....and that provided some exciting moments. (Orig Xbox/PS2 version).

However the majority of games I played were blowouts as whoever scored first would get a momentum boost and run away with it. And that momentum meter was adjusted and in my face EVERY SINGLE play.....way overdone (as EA tends to do LOL).

All good points and i should have added the caveat that i GM/AD/Watch about 90% of the games (CPU/CPU) as opposed to taking the sticks myself. This leads me to question the CPU/CPU impact of JTS and turnovers as I have "watched" easily 100 games and have not noticed the turnover troubles you mention.

Also as mentioned, I really enjoy Madden 07 over any other Madden (including 06) so the draft class aspect is a strong component of my argument.

I also plan on importing NCAA 07 draft classes in Madden 07, I just don't need to play any NCAA 07 games to do so.
