NOTES

I'm not sure i'm going to make it to next season without being fired...lol. 0-3 and not looking good. I have 9 draft picks for 2009. I hope i get a chance to rebuild this team, before the hammer falls hard on me.

HB: K. Smith has a 90 SPD, but he runs like he's in quick sand?!?!? His running reminds me of the QB's in NCAA09. I need to work on this cat.

Re: Detroit Lions (Clay)

Has anyone figured out a way to not get fired the first year with the lions yet avoid huge cap penalties and cap problems. I notice when I sign a lot of big time free agents My cap space is all gone in a few years and then im fired

Re: Detroit Lions (Clay)

I wouldn't worry to much about losing in the first half of the season. After a few losses, it really doesn't affect anything. If you are at 0 approval with your owner after three games, losing the next four can't drop you any lower that zero. If you start winning a few games at the end, you'll boost owner approval. Also, if you have any goals like resigning a player, put that off as long as possible in negotiations so you wind up signing the player at the tail end of the season for an instant approval boost. I saved my job in Washington one year, had a horrible record and about to get the axe strung out negotiations with Randy Thomas and Clinton Portis I think it was till the last couple weeks of the season, signed them and got an 80 point combined approval swing right when I needed it most.

Approval in the first half of the season is basically meaningless if you can pick up a few wins or resignings in the last month or so of the season.

WEEK 4

BYE WEEK
There was no cancel practice for the 2 weeks. We need to get back to the basics.

OFFENSE PRACTICE:
  • We worked on our HB's running the ball.
  • We worked on our Run Blocking

DEFENSE PRACTICE:
  • We worked on our CB's Pass Coverage.
  • We worked on pressuring the QB.

Re: Detroit Lions (Clay)

UPDATE

Coach Clay sat his OC down and took over the Offensive Playbook. He was tired of his OC calling the same running and passing plays over, and over, and over.

Coach Clay:
"He wasn't using on HB: K. Smith right. He kept putting him in bad running plays. Also he was putting too much pressure on our young QB. He was passing 80% of his passes on 3rd and long."

Game Note: Week 6 game against the Vikings.
HB: K. Smith has 129yds on 10 carries with 1TD in the 1st quarter.
