I think the biggest point you made is choose your class based on what the situation is and what will help your team the most. Some maps and situations call for a majority of people to run as engineers to make quick work of the enemy vehicles. Other times you need that support guy to lay down ammo and suppressive fire to help you get from point A to point B. Some well times mortar fire can really help. Also if you want to play as recon spot, spot, and spot some more. We can all admit a couple good snipers can pin down your team by spotting you to their teammates and picking you off when you get into the open. If you play recon don't just sit there waiting for the perfect shot. Your shots suppress the guy you shoot at, so spot them, shoot at them, and if you miss it gives those of us closer to the action a chance to finish them off.

I always wonder what teammates are thinking when a couple choppers and wreaking havok and dropping off attackers constantly and I'm the only one firing rockets. It's more infuriating when I'm on a squad of engineers and I see they're ignoring the choppers (do people really not switch launders based on context?). Even more infuriating when I'm playing as an engineer and have squad explosive ammo on so I know they should have plenty of rockets.

Not enough players use a silencer while attacking, at least while carrying an assault rifle. I take a lot of care to keep an eye on the mini-map for firing blips while defending and I'm sure others do too. I find the silencer to be indispensable. Just watch a few opposing players starting spinning around when they see a teammate go down because they don't know where the shots came from right away and the value is obvious. Maybe 300 hours of BC2 made all this more obvious to me.

The squad perks are beastly. I was in a group where one of us had sprint, another ammo, and the third explosive ammo and it was like heaven as a bunch of engineers. Mines and rockets everywhere, little need to be conservative with bullets, and speeeeeeeed.

Two questions Lomb...I'm not for sure I knew about Squad Perks, what are they and how do you get them? No 2. Do you know how many kills you need with a weapon to get the silencer?

edit: Sorry, I guess that was three questions

A few days ago, I finally started using a silencer..

It took a little getting used to, but I'm really liking it...

Assault = F2000 w/ foregrip, silencer, and acog.

That's all I've been using for all my stock guns if you want to be all sneaky like. They won't see you pop up on the map.

Re: Battlefield 3

I can't wait until I unlock some squad perks. I only have a few guys I play with on PS3 though. I like to be assault but usually spend my time reviving and healing. As support I do a little bit of resupplying, blowing things up with C4 (tanks basically), and shooting people while defending.

Re: Battlefield 3

I was playing with a few friends yesterday on Firestorm and while they were flying, I was on the rooftop taking out helicopters to keep them from dropping off guys. Well I got a lock-on tone for a helicopter, pulled the trigger and watched in anticipation for my rocket to obliterate the enemy.

Next split second a jet came hauling *** across my monitor and went into a fiery tumble into the sand after eating the rocket that was meant for the helicopter. My friend on my team was in that fiery jet, he was chasing one of the other jets and the rocket meant for the helicopter ended up taking him out in the most random event I've seen so far
