Re: Battlefield 3

Are there a lot of PC players here for BF3? I have a server setup (64 players on Conquest with high priority CPU) that needs players!

Re: Battlefield 3

Never played a Battlefield title before 3, but given how awesome this game is as well as the quality of the competition, I'm sold. I'm sticking with them until they grow complacent, if they grow complacent. Been playing the game a ton the last three days I've had it, and though it took a while for me to get acclimated to the gameplay, I've had a blast.

Anyone looking for Ps3 users to play with, add the Gamertag "Rubbersoles". I mic up and really enjoy working with a competent team.

See you guys online.

Re: Battlefield 3

After getting the FN2000 which I heard is over powered in the game. I completely disagree. I used it all last night and found it to be weaker than my 416. While the rate of fire is good, it is not a gun with great range. Don't see myself using it much unless it is a CQB map like Metro.

Oh and shotgun Flechette rounds = BEAST!! I have been using these a whole lot lately and damn are they fun. Silent little pop and instant kill in close quarters.

Don't be mad. Be glad that it'll bring more players into the BF3 community. There will be some folks who should have bought MW3 instead, but hopefully a lot of new 'lifer' BF players too.

You guys advice have definitely helped. So i'm not sucking as much as before. But you'll still more than likely find me at the bottom of each match. Lol

I took you guys' advice and gave up on RECON. There are a few maps that I will still bust it out from time to time. During these times I get barely any kills. But I try to spend my time spotting enemies and laying down the radar in high traffic areas. Don't know how helpful it is. But I hope its offering some help. Haha

In lieu of RECON, I've been going with the Engineer. I get a lot more kills. Here I try to stick with the tanks in the gunner seat. Then, whenever we start taking damage, I hop out and repair. Then hop back in and continue the assault.

I saw somebody mention taking out heli's. I tried doing that with the stinger, and they were missing...every...single...time...Don't know what I was doing wrong. So I gave up after that.

I also have been doing better with the advice you guys gave about taking your time. I've been peeking around cover and sprinting only to get to more cover. Been able to die less and get more kills.

Had this one time where I was posted up in a shade from a nearby tree spotting as a recon, when dude from the other team came running from right behind me, and literally stopped and posted up right in front of me...I was like, "The hell...?"...Stab. lol

One thing I still feel completely inept at is deciding what class to go with depending on the situation. I've been sticking strictly with recon and engineer. I need to learn when to go with what class.

I still have to learn A TON. But I feel like I'm getting a little better. You guys' advice is really helpful. Keep it coming!
Great to hear, TMagic! Give support class some love too and see what you think. Focus on helping your team out by keeping them supplied with ammo, spot for them while laying down suppressing fire with your big-*** LMG It's lots of fun...plus you can blow stuff up with C4 and mortars (once you earn the mortars).

the level one plane/helicopter upgrade is chaff pods. Each gets three chaff pods. When you fire a locked on rocket or missile at aircraft, it uses the chaff pods to shoot flares and the missile/rocket chases the flares instead of the aircraft. When trying to bring down a pilot who uses chaff pods you just need to be patient. You have six stinger missiles, they have only three chaff pods. Eventually they will run out and you can bring that sucker down.

Note, a direct hit on aircraft with full health with a rocket/missile will not kill it, it will just disable it. Unless a teammate is in the aircraft to repair it, the aircraft will go down, forcing the pilot to eject or go down in flames. Either way it's a win.

Re: Battlefield 3

^^^

What I find somewhat effective is in most cases once you get tone "a lock" on an aircraft, the pilot usually deploys the flares once he hears the "the lock" tone. If you can hold your fire and wait for the flares to go out then wait to get a "relock" and get tone again, you can usually get a hit on the aircraft before their flares reload. I find this effective using the stinger and piloting a chopper.
