Augsburg, Bavaria (AP) - Borussia Monchengladbach overcame a Champion's League hangover with a late stunner to earn an away point in a 1-1 draw at FC Augsburg on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Granit Xhaka's goal in the third minute of injury time allowed Gladbach to steal a point in a match in which they looked very lackadaisical.

FC Augsburg (6-7-10) hovering just above the relegation zone carried the play for the majority of the match against mostly a B-side for Gladbach.

After a scoreless opening half, Augsburg's Daniel Baier was pulled down in the Gladbach box at the hour mark, by Nico Schulz. Halil Altintop stepped up and buried the penalty to put the home side up 1-nil. It looked as though it would remain that way as Gladbach could not generate many chances.

But late in injury time, 16-year-old midfielder Kenny Vermeer, making his debut, made a nice run into the box then centered the ball perfectly for Granit Xhaka. He did not miss, burying the one-timer in the back of the net to help Gladbach pick up the road point.

Gladbach will host VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday. They lost the away fixture 3:2 back on September 26th.

Monchengladbach, North-Rhein-Westphalia (AP) - Borussia Monchengladbach avenged an early season defeat on Tuesday evening with a 2-nil victory over VfB Stutthart at Borussia Park. Newly acquired striker Breel Donald Embolo scored both goals and is proving to be quite an addition to the German side.

Embolo got Gladbach on the board quickly, knocking one in the back of the net in the 7th minute. He would add a second in injury time to seal it. He has four goals since joining Gladbach just before the winter transfer deadline. He was also named the Man of the Match earning a 9.2 rating

The quick turnaround continues as Borussia Monchengladbach plays their third game in six days on Friday as they travel to Wolfsburg.

3/4/16
Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony (AP) - Borussia Monchengladbach continued their run of good form on Friday night with a 2-1 victory over VfL Wolfsburg. A red card on Wolfsburg's Luis Gustavo just before halftime changed the complexion of this match.

Kelenchi Iheanacho got Gladbach on the board in the 24th minute as he headed home a beautiful cross from Nico Schulz to make it 1-nil. Fabian Johnson picked up a yellow after the goal as he knocked down the Wolfsburg keeper Diego Benaglio as he retrieved the ball from the back of his net.

Francisco Rodriguez would pick up one of his own in the 31st minute on a hard tackle on Johnson. The two would go face-to-face, apparently still arguing Johnson's shove of Benaglio. Kelechi Iheanacho would pick up a yellow in the 43rd minute and he dove in the box trying to draw a penalty. Luis Gustavo was then ejected in teh 45th minute as he hammered Johnson as he was just outside the box. That call put Wolfsburg down a man for the entire second half.

But the home side would strike early in half two. Bas Dost one timed a beautiful pass from Max Kruse to beat Ruben Blanco and tie the match at 1-1. That momentum could not carry them to the end though.

Andre Hahn came on as a sub in the 66th minute. He would take a pass from Joaquin Correa and one time a cracker into the top right corner in the 84th minute to put Borussia Monchengladbach up 2-1. They would hold on from there to pick up their seventh point out of nine in this very busy week.

Borussia Monchengladbach (13-8-4, 47pts) sits in third and has moved to within nine points of Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich with nine matches left in the campaign. The Foals will return home next Saturday as they play host to Eintracht Frankfurt (7-10-7, 31 pts) who currently sit in 11th place.
