West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire (AP) - Sheffield United came to City Ground on Tuesday eveningat the top of the table in the Championship and allowing the least amount of goals so far in the campaign. They lived up to the billing in a 2-nil defeat of Nottingham Forest as their smothering defense gave very little opportunity for Forest and they took advantage of a couple of chances to grab the win.

Oli McBurnie would put Sheffield United in front in the 24th minute, volleying a short cross home, beating Milan Borjan to the short side. Then in the 42nd minute Adlene Guedioura hit a shot from outside the box that dipped and went in off the underside of the crossbar to make it 2-nil. It was an almost impossible shot to stop and just a beauty.

Nottingham Forest's best chance to score in the match came in the 82nd minute when Tyrese Fornah headed a corner just over the bar. Joao Carvalho hit a shot form the top of the box late in teh first half that floated just over the bar.

West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire (AP) - Nottingham Forest dropped their third consecutive home match on Saturday afternoon, falling to Preston North End 3-1 at City Ground. Preston's menacing press frustrated Nottingham Forest all afternoon as they continue to slide down the Championship table.

Izzy Brown got Preston North End on the board early with a strike in the fifth minute. His left footed shot seemed to fool Brice Samba and snuck just inside the near post.

Preston would make it 2-nil in the 32nd minute as Ched Evans beat Samba again on his near post. He volleyed a cross from Sean Maguire, as Preston took a 2-nil lead into the half.

Alex Mighten would get one back for Nottingham in the 51st minute to give them a glimmer of hope. He took a through ball from Robert Navarro, raced down the left side and struck it into the right corner.

But just six minutes later, Sean Maguire would score, tapping home his own rebound to put Preston North End up 3-1.

Preston North End (6-6-5, 24 pts) moved ahead of Nottingham Forest in the Championship table as Nottingham Forest fell to (7-2-8, 23 pts). PNE outshot Forest 23-11 and had 15 shots on target. That earned Brice Samba, Nottingham's keeper, Man of the Match honors. He had 11 saves on 15 targets attempts. He earned a match rating of 7.8.

PNE was issued five yellow cards in the match including one on Ali McCann in the 25th minute that led to a spot kick. Robert Navarro's kick was saved by Daniel Iverson to keep the match 1-nil at the time.

Reading, Berkshire (AP) - Nottingham Forest broke a modest two match losing streak on Saturday as they drew 1-1 with Reading at Madejski Stadium on a sun splashed afternoon. Lewis Grabban's goal in the 52nd minute leveled the match in a pretty entertaining affair.

Reading (9-6-3, 33 pts) took the lead in the 21st minute on a spot kick from Yahou Meite. He calmly placed it in the lower right corner with Milan Borjan not even moving. The kick was awarded after an Alex Balde foul in the box.

Reading outshot Nottingham Forest 10-0 in the opening half but just 2-0 in on target attempts.

Lewis Grabban's 11th goal on the campaign leveled things in the 52nd minute. He took a pass from Joao Carvalho at the top of the box, spun and hit a rocket in off of keeper Rafael.

Reading ended up outshooting Forest 17-5 with Grabban accounting for all five Nottingham Forest shots. Shots on target were 6-3 with an expected goals of 8.0-1.1.

Yahou Meite earned Man of the Match honors for Reading with a 7.6 match rating. He scored their lone goal and had seven of their 17 shots.

West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire (AP) - Nottingham Forest's slide continues as they dropped a 1-nil decision to Luton Town at City Ground on Tuesday evening. The loss was their fourth in their last six outings as they continue to languish mid-table, far below preseason expectations.

Gabriel Osho of Luton Town was sent off in the 40th minute for a harsh tackle from behind on Joao Carvalho.

But even playing a man down, Luton Town seemed to have the better run of play for most of the match. They would outshoot Nottingham Forest 15-5 and 7-2 in shots on target.

Luton Town would get their goal in the 67th minute off of a set piece. Kai Naismith sent in a long free kick into the box that Elijah Adebayo got on the end of, heading it past a helpless MIlan Borjan to put Luton Town in front 1-nil.

Luton Town (9-4-6, 31 pts) really turned up the pressing at that point, smothering Nottingham Forest and really not allowing many chances over the final 20 minutes.

The loss dropped Nottingham Forest to (7-3-9, 24 pts) and in a position where they are safe from relegation but also nowhere near the promotion playoff.

Milan Borjan earned Man of the Match honors in the loss with a match rating of 7.4. He recorded six saves on seven on target attempts.

Things don't get much easier for 14th place Nottingham Forest as they will travel to the West Midlands on Saturday afternoon to take on third place West Bromwich Albion (11-7-1, 40 pts)

Match Day 19 Results:
Fulham 4:0 Derby County

West Bromwich, West Midlands (AP) - Nottingham Forest played an entertaining 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion in the Midlands on Saturday afternoon. Lewis Grabban's goal in the 78th minute leveled the match and Forest had a couple of great chances late to win it.

This could be argued that it was Nottingham Forest's best match of the season as they looked to be in top form despite leaving with just one point.

West Brom (11-8-1, 41 pts) grabbed the lead in the 21st minute as Karlan Grant rattled one in off the underside of the crossbar from in close.

Jo Lolley would level it up in the 37th minute, intercepting the ball just outside the box, dribbling in and taking a shot, then putting home the rebound.

The teams went to the break level at 1-1 and level in shots at 6-6.

West Brom would retake the lead against the run of play in the 68th minute as a turnover deep in Nottingham Forest's end led to an absolute cracker from Alex Mowatt. Milan Borjan had no chance as teh howitzer found the top left corner and it looked like West Brom may escape with full points.

But Nottingham Forest turned up the pressure and got the reward ten minutes later as Lewis Grabban broke in and chose power as he beat Sam Johnstone to his right to level the match at 2-2.

West Brom's Kean Bryan was sent off in the 80th minute for a harsh, but necessary tackle on Lewis Grabban just outside the box. Joe Lolley's free kick was saved as Sam Johnston sprawled to his left to deflect the shot wide.

Brennan Johnson had a great chance in the 86th minute but fired one over the bar. Lewis Grabban then was robbed in added time as Sam Johnston got his finger tips on a Grabban shot to deflect it wide of teh post to preserve the draw.

Nottingham Forest (7-4-9, 25 pts) can take plenty of positives from this one. They outshot West Brom 15-12 They had an 8-5 advantage in shots on target and expected goals advantage of 7.6-3.7. Alex Mowatt of West Brom earned Man of the Match honors with a goal on four shots, and an assist.

Up next for the Tricky Trees, winless in their last five (0-2-3), is a home match next Saturday against Peterborough United (5-3-12 18 pts).

Match Day 20 Results:
Preston North End 2:0 Fulham
Huddersfield Town 0:1 Middlesbrough
