Re: 2023 Spring Training Thread

Jays/Pirates game was 2:47. The score was 9 to 7.

I love this. The players seem comfortable with it too.

Another aspect is the effect this will have on commentary. Less time for "this is a player who goes out there to compete each and every time he steps onto that diamond," which is always good in my book. However, also less time for quirky commentators to talk about stuff that has nothing to do with baseball, which is bad in my book. I'll take the reduction of "jock talk" any day though.

Re: 2023 Spring Training Thread

We were cruising along until Jordan Hicks entered the game.

Threw 26 pitches only 9 of which were strikes

Pat Tabler finally doesn't need to fill time with "he's a baseball player", but it came right after he's gone from the booth (which I still hate the decision).

It'll be an adjustment, but I'm sure people will love it.

The Mark Buehrle games were fun to watch because you know you're getting a good game while it also took 2 hours and 20 minutes.

It's not like they're cutting the action to 7 innings to reduce game times, that part I could understand people being upset with because that really changes the game more that cutting dead time out of it.

Maybe it all depends on our ages, the time we fell in love with each sport, how much we love each sport. I don’t know but I know baseball is my favourite sport so im willing to wait the changes out and hope I still enjoy it all on the other side.

I think we are in agreement with the state of the game but just not in our limits of our fandom.

Immense sarcasm.

Is that bad? That sounds bad.

I'm really disliking that MLB Network isn't on YouTube TV now... can't watch any ST games and have missed some good college games

With whatever respect due to your father, helmets in hockey isn't nearly the same as all the fundamental altering of baseball. Not even the same galaxy, tbh.

Look all the changes football made. Yeah. Totally for the better too. Football is so watchable.
Football is the most watched thing every year... so yeah it is very watchable.
