According to Jim Bowden, the Cubs have made an offer to Francisco Liriano. Not surprising at all, pitching is a big area of need for us. Specifics of the offer not known as of right now.

Re: 2012-13 Hot Stove League Thread

I"m not sure what the hell the Blue Jays are doing but I do like the Izturis signing. He could end up being a starter or a super sub depending on what else they do. Blue Jays radio beat reporter/pregame host/fill in PBP/Color guy) wrote an article saying that this signing could be similar to the Scutaro signing a few years ago in that it'd be giving Izturis a chance to be a starter and he may become a late bloomer with the bat the way Scutaro became once he joined the Blue Jays.

I guess we'll see what happens.

^I like Mike Wilner... he's got a good point though.

And SPTO, you'll be interested in hearing this... AA says that if Sanchez's price is really 6/90, “We could accommodate that type of AAV."

More on the Jays' plan:

Re: 2012-13 Hot Stove League Thread

Thanks, I'd be a little wary on giving Villanueva 30 starts though. I mean, he does a great job for about 20-25 starts than tires out in the last month. If he gets what he wants and is a starter then I hope he prepares himself accordingly. I like the guy and think he could be a strong middle of the rotation starter for any team in baseball. I'm just a little worried about the prospect of overpaying and he's maxed out his potential.

As for the Sanchez news....YESS!!

Yeah, I like Wilner too and his point is spot on. I do find him to be a bit arrogant with callers at times but other than that he's a smart baseball guy.
