If I were the Astros, I'd stay put beyond some bullpen help.

Look @ the 08 Rays as an example.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Phillies asked for Puig in a Hamels deal. Have heard rumblings in Philly that it could be a possibility if the Phils and Dodgers match up.

I'd like a Puig/Hamels deal.

Re: 2015 MLB Trade Deadline

Looks like the Dodgers really want an ace-type pitcher to fill the current hole in the rotation + provide insurance in case Greinke leaves.

You can fill the hole in the rotation by getting a solid starter (or two) at the deadline and replace Greinke by outbidding everyone for Price/Cueto in the winter. That seems preferable to getting a rental you can sign a few months later (Cueto) or paying through the nose for Hamels.

I completely agree. Even though we are "in the hunt", I think we are still a year or two out from being a serious contender, so I really hope we don't blow prospects on some guy we probably won't even be able to sign at then end of this season.

The fire sale is in full swing. The Reds have put all the players they [are] willing to part with on the shelf. Owner Bob Castellini has given go-ahead to trade as needed-John Fay
