Maybe that could be one of the reasons the NFL continues to come up with these rules? Just a thought...

Just for clarification, what rules are we talking about that have changed in recent years?

- Horse collar tackles (2005)
- Enforcing of defensive illegal contact (2004)
- Protecting the QB (2001)

What else am I missing?

If the NFL wants to reduce injuries to WRs - they should outlaw the 3 route being run into zone coverage (sarcasm). THAT is where a majority of the injuries to wideouts occur.


but its going to be interesting to see how they implement this new "horse collar" rule. I predict that the refereeing is now going to be even more screwed up than it already is...and the officiating has been a terrible mess lately.

That makes no sense whatsoever. This was a big time scoring year in the league. We saw offenses go off. But maybe it's not as bad as you guys think when teams with top defenses made it to the final four. I think the NFL was pleased with the past season.
