Yeah, but the NFL turns their eye from the biggest gambling day of the year.

I don't think its that big of a deal. I can see where there are problems but it isn't game changing or anything like that.

Re: Dangerous precedent being set by KFC??

If we start having companies come in and paying athletes to do weird stuff for celebrations then it probably won't be long before they're paying them to do weird stuff while actually in a game, celebration or otherwise, be it to do a certain product sign with their hands while on a TD run or something to that effect.

That's why all of you guys who seem to be downplaying it by saying "what's the big deal?" should consider the overall consequences of this being allowed to occur. Football and sports in general is already commercialized as it is, do you really want to see your favorite athlete break away on a TD run and while running hold up a hand signal that you've recently seen in Listerine commercials?

It takes away from the one area remaining in sports that is not commercialized, the actual on the field game play. So again, try to see the big picture here. It's not the chicken dance here that is worrisome, it's the continuing advancement of the proverbial commercial line in the sand.

The worst case for this sort of thing should be to limit it to sidelines only, not anywhere on the field, be it post or pre-play.

True, good point. I didn't think long term.

Next time a company will make the deal private. Players have been using on field celebrations to get off field deals for a very long time; see Deon Sanders and Chad Johnson.

The major danger for all professional sports is gambling not companies encouraging players to do a dance.
