Re: Shockey traded to the Saints

It's safe to say the Saints are in win now mode. If, for this season, one says that the Saints' chances of going to Super Bowl XLIII, whatever those chances are, will DECREASE as a result of this trade, I'd say they're just plain silly. It doesn't exponentially increase it, of course, but it can have a positive effect.

Jamal Lewis and Fred Taylor have had recently respawned from injuries..... if Dulymus McAllister can, then RB/WR Reggie Bush won't be pressured to do quite as much and will be more effective the times he is on the field; not to mention the creativity and combinations that could be created with Colston, Devery, Bush, Deuce, and Shockey could be mind-boggling for D-Coordinators.. If Deuce, 3 of the other aforementioned 4, and Brees stay healthy, I see big things for the Saints. REALLY big things.

Don't forget about Pierre Thomas. He was really looking good at the end of last season. Oh, and Robert Meachem. I hope he becomes the number two instead of Henderson, because Devery always seems to have a case of the drops.

Since when did Shockey become a very good blocking TE? I know he's not awful like he used to be, but c'mon. Winslow stomps Shockey in the blocking area. By a wide margin.

Since Coughlin came on board...well he's been at least more than adequate...can't comment on kellen cause i don't watch many browns games...

His blocking is more consistent than his hands. lol

Exactly. While logically, I know it's probably a smart move--- no big-time conflicting attitudes in the locker room, good draft picks in return--- I've just always been a huge fan of the way Shockey plays the game, and I'm definitely going to miss him. It's going to be upsetting for me to see him in a Saints uniform for the first time.

I'm going to be fair to you and say that you haven't seen much of Winslow since Miami.

If Shockey is truely not a better blocker than Winslow, then he is the worst blocker in the NFL. Winslow since his numerous knee surgeries has been a terrible blocker.

However, Winslow is a better overall player...even thought that's not the point.

Re: Shockey traded to the Saints

Shockey has become an absolute great blocker at the TE position, hell it could be argued that he's better at that than actually catching the football.
