Re: top 5 QB's of all time

Elway and the rest are all interchangeable after Elway, in my opinion.

Re: top 5 QB's of all time

No disrespect to any other QB, but the list starts at who is #2 after Joe. He won 4 Super Bowls all types of ways. He won close games and blow outs. Also, how can either Elway or Marino be ahead of Montana when he smoked both Marino and Elway in 2 of those Super Bowls hanging 38 and 55 points on both of em in blowouts. Smoked is not even strong enough. He embarrassed both of them cats on the biggest stage in the world. I tend to look at the complete season and not the dominance of the regular season when judging.

During the regular season you get your cupcakes and easy wins like the Montana did in the lack luster NFC West in the 80's. But what made Montana the best in my eyes though was he always made sure to beat the teams he was supposed to like the Steve Bartkowski led Falcons, the Eric Dickerson led Rams and the Bobby Herbert led Saints, but just so folks didn't think it was the soft competition in the division that got them to the playoffs year after year, he did his most damage in the playoffs where the best teams were as well. Marino was a regular season dynamo and doesn't even make my top 5. Elway had great playoff success and he would be #2 on my list. Regular season MVP trophies, TD passes and passing yard records are nice, but Super Bowls are where legends are made. C'mon Son! Its Joe Montana and everyone else.

1.Montana
2.Elway
3.Unitas
4.Brady
5.Manning

For me Elway is easily #1. After that, it's a mish mash of guys. Montana, Marino, etc.

Love it. Great list. I think you are on to something. I do think Brett Favre deserves mention somewhere in there though.

(I'm referring to the Denver Broncos team, not Davis specifically)

The Broncos' season was already a lost cause before Terrell Davis even suffered his first major injury.
Not wrong.

You're exaggerating the situation to try and minimize Davis. Every RB has slow starts. But Davis was also averaging less than 17 carries per game at the time (this is a fact). I don't know too many backs that put up great numbers averaging 16 or so carries a game in the Pros.

The bottom line is this; of course the Broncos weren't going to be as great without Elway. That's no revelation. And it's no revelation that once your QB is suspect that the defense is going to stack the line to stop the run.

None of that means Davis got "exposed". If that's the case then every running back in the history of football who went through this situation got exposed. I'm sorry, but that argument is a huge misrepresentation.
