Admittedly I didn't watch a whole lot of Arizona this preseason, but what did Leinart do to fall out of favor? His numbers weren't bad, I thought. I don't remember them off-hand, but I remember a high completion percentage.

Re: Official Training Camp and Preseason Thread

Lack of heart was his main battle. On top of that, his arm seemed to get weaker as time passed, if you can imagine that. He could only dump the ball off a couple yards and let the WR's or RB's do the work. When he did go long, it did not look pretty. It was one soft pass after another, up for grabs.

I remember a football movie from a while back where the guys on the O-line totally whiff on a block to teach the QB a lesson. Well, it really seemed like that line was hooking Leinart up with the same treatment. I felt bad for the guy but I imagine he did something to piss off his coach and team mates.

DA has a chance. He has Fitz, Breaston, Williams, and Doucet at his disposal. Even though his history may lead people he'll fall flat on his face, I'll remain optimistic. As a fan what else am I gonna do?

Bet you a couple years ago people passed off Kurt Warner as "hot garbage" in AZ.

Re: Official Training Camp and Preseason Thread

Kurt Warner was never as bad as Anderson was and even if he was, Cardinal fans didn't think that he was anything more than a backup so the "I told you so" kind of posts don't mean much. Even in the preseason Anderson has the same number of touchdowns and interceptions so I'm really not sure where you would get any hope that he will completely change his behavior. You can have all the receivers in the world but it doesn't mean anything when your quarterback throws the ball to the other team, throws behind recievers, overthrows the ball etc.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Sorry I haven't read any "I told you so" posts, so maybe you can direct me to one. The simple point is that most thought that Kurt wouldn't amount to anything in AZ and he proved them wrong. That's why they play on Sundays. Maybe the change in scenery will do him some good. What do I know? Sometimes I forget that the preseason was the ultimate factor in how the regular season went.

Re: Official Training Camp and Preseason Thread

I think Derek Anderson could have a decent season this year. Of course, going off recent history most people aren't gonna have too much hope in him this year but if you look at the pieces he currently has right now then I wouldn't be so quick to panic if I were a Cardinals Fan.

From the times I've seen Anderson this Preseason(which hasn't been much)I thought he looked OK out there compared to Leinart, who I thought looked and played like a guy who didn't really care if he was starting or not.

Leinart is going to sign somewhere with a chip on his shoulder...

Sadly it will be a dorito from the bag he will be sharing with JaMarcus Russell.

Just because one player did well after people thought that his career was over has nothing to do with Derek Anderson resurrecting a career that he never had. The preaseason isn't the ultimate factor, his past two years plus what he has shown in the preaseason is what I'm judging him by. I don't know how you can be optimistic about Anderson at all based on what he has done when given the chance to start or what he has done this preseason. Even in his best year he barely completed over 50% of his passes.

He isn't an accurate passer so the pieces won't make that much of a difference.
