WHat if Brett Favre was never traded away, would he have become the quarterback he turned out to be in Green Bay? Would the City of Atlanta have a Lombardi trophy?

What if Michael Vick never went to prison and Bobby Petrino didn't quit on the team?

What if my Niners had taken Aaron Rodgers, would we be wishing we had taken Alex Smith or would we have a ring?

If they would have even went to the Super Bowl that year, not necessarily win it, there could possibly be no Houston Texans, and the expansion team in 2002 would most likely go to LA.
Actually the success or lack thereof was a factor but not the huge one that you make it out to be. The Oilers were looking for a city funded stadium but Houston wasn't willing to fork out the dough BUT they were willing to do renovations and an expansion on the Houston Astrodome which they did 2 years before the team actually moved. They didn't really take Bud Adams all that seriously when he said he wanted a stadium or he'd pack his bags.

That's why later in the decade when the Astros made the same kind of noises the city was very quick to help with the former Enron Field.

This is a bit of revisionist history as well. I actually used to remember it that way myself but in watching almost the entirety of the Johnson years in Dallas he was a lot tougher and more disciplined then that. Yes there were incidents but they mostly happened during the offseason (Irvin's drug issues etc etc) In fact, in '92 when Irvin missed the plane for a game against the Giants Johnson was pretty pissed to the point that he had Irvin sit out a good chunk of the 1st half. There were other things such as cutting backup RB Curvin Richards for sloppy play in the backfield late in the '92 season as well.

It wasn't really until Barry Switzer came along that it became the media circus with the inmates running the asylum. In fact, by Johnson's last year players were starting to chafe under his control and were talking about wanting a different coach. Yes, there was some loose activity during the Johnson years but it was more of a "don't let it affect the team" kind of thing whereas when Switzer came to town the restrictions on and off the field were thrown to the curb.

What if Brett Favre had taken a knee, and let Longwell kick a field goal?

What if the coinflip in 1998 went the other way? Are the Chargers the perennial playoff team with Manning under center?

What if the Chargers hadn't traded away the #1 pick in the 2001 draft to Atlanta and took Michael Vick as they had planned?

What if Cleveland takes McNabb instead of Couch #1?

What if Jerry doesn't fire Jimmy after the Cowboys' second Super Bowl?

What if Byner doesn't fumble at the Denver goalline? Does Marty Schottenheimer win his first Super Bowl?
