Re: NFL Off Topic

Probably me, just guessed lol.

2.5 yards seems really close to me though.

Re: NFL Off Topic

I just guessed too.

Probably somewhere in between. But the basic idea is the same.

The story is false. Made no sense in the first place, nor is it his style.

The idea with the pistol is you get the same advantages in the passing game as you do in the shotgun without hurting the running game as much.

Thanks, at least it's a little clearer now.

Funny enough, it's a combination of both of their answers.

Think of the pistol as a standard singleback formation with QB about 4 yards back (i.e. what Kehlis said). He may have another back or two on his side(s).

Shotgun is traditionally 7 yards back, but most teams these days are running it with the QB around the same distance as the pistol or a yard further.

The idea is that the pistol formation will still allows for downhill running better than shotgun, but gives also freezes defenses up more because of the potential to pass out of it.

Re: NFL Off Topic

Pistol is a lot of fun in the video games, sweeps, options, shovels, etc.

Dan Quinn has told the Falcons staff that Kyle Shanahan will be the new 49ers coach. So it sounds like its officially unofficially done.

I wish him luck, I wonder if he'll have his father working in the organization with him.
