Did I miss something? Has the regular season started early?

That is based on how good they are on paper for the most part. Meaning, they SHOULD be good this year because of all the talent on the team. Just a title for the thread.

I agree with you on the last part. Chiefs should rebound strong this year and I like them a lot more than the Chargers. I'm not sold on the Chargers' free agency like everyone else seems to be. They had a good draft though.

Also, the Broncos defense should be really solid under Jack Del Rio. They were solid under Allen, but high powered offenses like Detroit and New England torched them.

Still, they upgraded at CB which should help. Hopefully Carter and Moore mature to help in the backfield. I think the questions for their defense are at linebacker with DJ Williams being out six games though.

I still think the Broncos will win that division. Even with a murderous schedule.

Will Eric Berry and Jamaal Charles be healthy? And beyond that will they both be the explosive players they were pre-injury?

That will decide a lot in terms of how far KC can go IMO...

They also upgraded their defense by signing Payton. The effect an offense can have on a defense, by scoring points and giving them time to rest, is night and day when going from Tebow to Manning.

Derek Anderson also went to the Pro Bowl a few years ago, going to a pro bowl doesn't mean all that much sometimes.

You are right, but my point was that he has shown that he's capable of doing a solid job at quarterback. He just tends to either force the ball way too much or he's too afraid to throw the ball at all. Hopefully he finds a median between the two.

Chiefs got killed by injuries last year, started winless in the first few games, upended the undefeated Packers, and finished with 7 wins, right? Totally reasonable to believe they can win a division that nobody really owns. You can make a case for every team in the West.

They definitely have some talented pieces. Cassel may not be a top QB, but he's capable of leading them to the playoffs as he's shown before.

The AFC is a beast, though. Patriots, Ravens, Texans, and maybe Steelers are all Super Bowl-caliber. Hard to put KC above them.
