Upcoming Rule Changes...

I can't judge these rule changes much, I've never played football with the exception of the occasional throw and catch. I'm always for safety.

But with all these new rules and rule changes.. How much safety can there be before it becomes physically impossible not to break these rules, because of the speed of the game, how big these guys are now, how physical and athletic they are.

This is Goddell and the owners voting on these rules. What about the players? These guy are out there game by game, whats their opinion? Does it not count?

Almost makes me think maybe we need a change of these owners meetings and have players meet on such things instead. These guys know what they are doing.. If they agree with such changes, fine. But what about if they don't? They have no voice..

Pretty sure all of this is allowed under the CBA as ratified by the players. Players have their voice and representation. Goodell doesn't have a vote, btw. His bosses, the owners, do.

Most just in it for the payday anyways.

So uh ya, is anyone else wishing XFL would make a comeback?
I watch maybe one NFL game a year, the money aspect really turned me off a few years back.
Thing that blows is that this rule will almost certainly trickle to college football, which takes up each and every one of my Saturdays during the season.
Player safety? Give me a break, everyone knows this is about $$$

According to Bruce Allen, he abstained on tuck rule vote as tribute to Al Davis and because he felt rule itself was not the issue in 2002.

I don't mind the rule change, it had to be done.

Everyone screaming the game is ruined..hold your horses.

In the end, it will still be football...we will still love the game and watch in record numbers.

It's something new every year with sport so I'm not surprised.

Next year, there will be something else that'll be tweaked or changed in the name of "safety".
