Maybe it's a Versus/NBC thing instead of Doc's fault, but it seems like he and the colour guy(s) are yacking away instead of calling the action for about 30% of all goals scored during the games he broadcasts. Drives me nuts.

I've warmed up to Doc, but Gary Thorne is great and I've always been impressed by Steve Levy's abilities.

And while Pierre McGuire is the creepiest dude in the world, I was really blown away by his passion and depth of knowledge in the Olympics. The guy loves his work and it shows. I can respect that.

Doc doesn't annoy me but I miss Gary Thorne and Bill Clement as a team. Clement is my favorite hockey commentator, period.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread

I don't think Burnside has mentioned the Canucks or Canada's Olympic team at any point within the last two years without taking a shot at Luongo. It's odd. Either he still harbours a grudge from the 1994 West Final or he's trying to balance out Buccigross, who has an irrational affection for the Canucks.

Also, the ESPN editors should tell LeBrun and Burnside to drop the misused royal "we" in their articles. Take an English course, fellas.

Re: 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread

Pierre Maguire is a hack. The man literally did a campaign in public to get the Minnesota Wild GM job. He didn't do it on the air but it's pretty much common knowledge that he leaked that info out to the people in the know.

Anyways Luongo has looked shaky more often then not this year so I don't think it's completely unfair to be skeptical of what he can do when the pressure is on him.
