I think the current system is fine.

Just resign the guy when his contract runs out if you're worried about losing him.

I hear ya. At least we can communicate and come to some good conclusions through a changeable system. The downside to a lot of video games is that we can't adjust the system so if there's something we really don't like.. we usually just deal with it. Here, we can come to some good decisions that are more pleasing overall. Yeah, it takes more work... but this year we really made lemonade out of lemons.

Even though I made the base offseason system, I still wasn't looking forward to actually doing it. It did take a lot of work to get it going. Once it actually came time to do some offseason functions like drafting and FA, I was having a blast and so were many of you. That was a real eye-opener for me to how fun this can actually be when everything is working at a decent level.

Also, this would be kind of overkill on the function of the franchise tag. The tag already serves the purpose of extending a contract without risk. We don't want to make it too easy to do

I hear you Wee. Lets be real though. A player like Manning would not walk after his contract was up, nor would he refuse to resign. Players extend contracts all the time. It was just a thought.

Super helpful, Paps! This will make it tons easier for everyone to be on the same page moving forward. Great job!

Re: ACQB: Offseason Checklist

Yeah, it's working out pretty well. It's nice to get a visible indicator of exactly what everyone has done. Since lot of teams are still deciding on whether or not to get rid of certain players, I don't expect to see the 2010 Free Agent Bidding and Early Termination boxes checked off until near the end of the season for most.

Quote:
5. How is the rookie draft handled in terms of player cost?
For the draft, players will be priced by their pick and not their overall rating. This parallels real life. This season’s draft pick costs will be as follows:

Round 1 (top 10 flat-rate points)
1. 350
2. 340
3. 335
4. 330
5. 325
6. 320
7. 315
8. 310
9. 305
10. 300

11-32: 79 OVR

Round 2: 70
Round 3: 65
Round 4: 65
Round 5: 60
Round 6: 60
Round 7: 55
These are the new rookie salary guidelines that Kasey has come up with. You guys might want to start experimenting with the numbers to see how much it will cost to sign players at different postions. That will give you a good idea of figuring out how much cap room you want to have left at the end of the season.

Formula:

Position Cost * Overall * Overall Cost* Age Cost * Contract Length Cost

Re: ACQB: Offseason Checklist

I have a bunch of players that are out of contract at the end of the year and I plan to let them walk. What do I do with them at this point. I added the players I want to re-sign to the sheet.
