Re: Super's Selections
Super’s Selections: The Top 20 Draft Prospects
This is based off of the projected round and choice number, so let’s get to it.
• CB Drake Reed: Drake Reed is the #1 prospect in the country and it’s easy to see why. Reed has elite cover skills, is a ballhawk, can tackle and even volunteers on special teams. Drake is a star in the making, only problem is that he parties like a star. Reed has been spotted in every strip club except the playboy mansion. He’s also been spotted with Make It Rain Foundation mogul, SuperSeahawks who was quoted as saying: “He’s a good kid, he really knows how to party, booze!”
Pro Comparison: Champ Bailey
• DT D.J. Blackwell: The story on Blackwell is that he sat on the bench for 2 years and had a few lightning in the bottle type moments. His youtube video of him knocking out fellow draft prospect QB Emanuel Slaughter in the Peach Bowl. He doesn’t have great stats, but has shined recently with a quick first step in the pass rush and the ability to bat down passes that come his way.
Pro Comparison: Warren Sapp
• QB Kolton Vincent: Kolton threw for 1,886 yards and ran for 213 yards in 4 games including a Triple OT Bowl win as well when the UNLV starter was injured for the year . His ability to move out of the pocket and hit open targets is on par with Russell Wilson. He doesn’t have a great arm, but is pretty accurate. Also, he’s 5’10’’.
Pro Comparison: Russell Wilson
• RE Antione Verbal: Verbal has been a 3 year starter and is a pretty consistent pass rusher for the Sun Devils. Doesn’t have great speed, but is able to beat the LT with power or a wicked spin move. If you need to boost your pass rush, Verbal is for you.
Pro Comparison: Dwight Freeney
• FS Jakeenan Kelly: Most in South Florida tout Kelly as the 2nd coming of Ed Reed. He has strong instincts and finds himself around the football all the time. Not the best cover skills and has been accused of taking too many chances and cheap shots, but he is a shot in the arm for a porous secondary.
Pro Comparison: Ed Reed
• SS Kahlil Harrington: Kahlil’s friends call him “Skip” and I have no idea why. He’s been the defensive captain for the Oregon defense since he was a freshman. He’s pretty unassuming off the field, but is an impact player on the field.
Pro Comparison: Eric Weddle
• WR Cal Boseman: Boseman has great size and good speed as a WR. He’s been doubled covered for the last two years in Houston and has broken all of their receiving records. He’s a superstar in the making and should be a star in the SFL.
Pro Comparison: Josh Gordon
• ROLB Nyjee Elliot: Elliot has been a monster off the edge for the Wildcats in their 3-4 scheme. Elliot has a great motor which never stops and he doesn’t give up on a play. That’s how he’s gotten all of his QB tackles. He’ll need to be in the right scheme, but could produce if in the right system.
Pro Comparison: Terrell Suggs
• HB Sil Adantor: Sil grew up dirt poor in Detroit and walked on at Central Michigan. He’s had a few kickoff and punt returns for TD’s which has put the spotlight on him. He’s pretty fast and very shifty. Once he gets to the pros, he said he would spend his rookie salary on a condo and creating the largest ant farm in the world. He may be crazy, but crazy is good!
Pro Comparison: He Hate Me
• TE Efrem Pichon: Efrem migrated from Brazil, traveled to Mexico and hopped the fence to America. Teammate D.J. Blackwell taught him the ins and outs of football and took a liking to the TE position. He’s stronger than your average TE and is only 20 years old (he might be 23, but we don’t have access to his birth certificate). He’s got character issues and is barely legal, but that won’t stop someone from drafting him.
Pro Comparison: Kellen Winslow
• QB Drew Alexander: Drew started off hot, but all the partying he’s done messed with his performance. Good skillset, not someone you want to be the “franchise” guy.
Pro College Comparison: Johnny Manziel
• FS Tyronne Boyce: If Jakeenan Kelly is the #1 safety in this year’s draft class, Boyce is 1a. Boyce has sidelined more players with his hard hitting than a NCAA sanction. Boyce is crazy as well; he stabbed a fan with his cleats….twice. Boyce may not be allowed to step foot in South Carolina ever again, but he’s got swag.
Pro Comparison: Laron Landry
• QB Emanuel Slaughter: Slaughter has had an inconsistent career at Penn State filled with benchings and INT’s. What makes him a good prospect he has a strong arm and is deadly accurate with the deep ball. Slaughter was knocked in the Peach Bowl and is forced to relive it everyday on youtube. If you want to chuck it 50 yards downfield every play, Slaughter is your guy.
Pro Comparison: Daunte Culpepper
• MLB Jameson Graves: Teammates and opponents call him “the grave digger”, because of his ability to bury ball carriers and play the run. He’s not very fast nor agile and he’s always off the field on 3rd down, so beware of Graves if you want to draft him, or if you’re playing against him.
Pro Comparison: Rey Manualuga
• LE Jelani Rebmann: Jelani has been a push over his entire life; he’s the Matt Cassel of the DL, always the backup. Jelani possess a good blend of strength and acceleration and can be serviceable in a 4-3 and 3-4.
Pro Comparison: Cory Redding
• CB Johnnie Rice: Rice is the 17th cousin of hall of fame WR Jerry Rice. Johnnie played safety his first 3 years, but injuries and alcohol abuse forced the coaches to put him at CB. Rice has excelled as a Cover 2 corner with his ability to attack RB’s and maul WR’s. He’s not fast and is often burned by faster guys, but can play well when he’s not asked to do too much.
Pro Comparison: Jason Sehorn
• WR Zachery Toscano: Zachery believes that he is a star, he even has a tattoo of a gold star on his a ** as a reminder. Toscano was once spotted at a Carly Rae Jepsen concert. He’s a top prospect, because he has great hands and run great routes. He’s a solid, but not flashy receiver, so draft him maybe.
Pro Comparison: Ricky Proehl
• RT Chuckie Capi: Capi is the first OL prospect on the board, because of athleticism and run blocking. He doesn’t hold up well to a bull rush, but is a great blocker in the open field. Undersized, but agile.
Pro Comparison: Eric Winston
• ROLB Lache Bishop: Bishop has won a lot of games as a collegiate. He was also on the LSU rugby team. Bishop is a great tackler and has good agility and speed. He doesn’t always know where to guy, but knows how to get there.
Pro Comparison: Sean Weatherspoon
• LOLB Kedron Reeder: Reeder was on his way to stardom at Southern Miss, but a freak injury ended his college career early and has been rehabbing for the last 2 years. He may have lost a step or two, but still has great instincts, can shed blocks and sit in a yellow zone and not look stupid. He has some injury risk, but he could be a player of great value at this point in the draft.
